I think ChiHawk or whatever that guys name is is gonna come on here and say we need to add Poulin, Legare, POJ, a 3rd rounder, and retain on Galchenyuk

I don't think the money works out well here for next year. Kind of forcing the Penguins hand to trade a goalie, probably resulting in less than actual value.

I'm more confused than anything.

https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/294709&post_id=1210655

This previous post was a massive overpayment per...You, but now Saad is a good fit for PIT? I mean these are very conflicting. Gus and ~35th are 110% worth more than Poulin. Poulin really hasn't done much that's special.

***EDIT*** really though. The hardest part about any Saad trade is this. Let's pretend this trade happens and PIT does whatever. They win it all or they're 1st round exits. Doesn't matter for this scenario. In the offseason JR can trade Saad away and get more than you're proposing here. So...you're expecting Stan to unload him for free 6 month trial.

I love this addition for the Pens but Galch would be FA and a 1st for Saad seems alot!
I think Chicago would like to get DeSmith and they will resign Lehner and let go Crawford...
So DeSmith, Poulin would be enough for Saad with 2M retain.

Not resigning Schultz, letting Bjugstad and one of Murray/Jarry go so they’re fine

Poulin being included makes that trade an overpayment......... he’s an A level prospect, could see the NHL next year. Saad’s value is a first and a prospect, either now or over the summer. Galchenyuk is a sweetener as CHI can flip him for a pick or decide to try him out. Not sure what’s so confusing to you between the posts, maybe your valuation on Gustafsson but he maybe merits a second round pick and Pens have no interest

Poulin is worth more than the first, so that’s even more of an overpayment. Would potentially include Desmith with the first though

I don't see Poulin with the same view point as you. I don't think he'd be drafted ahead of Artur Kaliyev, Bobby Brink, Nolan Foote, Ryan Suzuki, Jakob Pellitier, Raphael Lavoie for example as he was, BUT THAT'S FINE. I understand we can have the different opinion. What I don't understand is why you're saying.

This sentence means give PIT Saad for free...because we want him, even though we're just going to flip him for the same amount over the summer. Thanks for the free six month trial. There has to be a price for providing a service for a playoff run.

Calm down clown. We'll do Chucky and a 1st, you can keep that pylon of a prospect.

We aren't retaining $2M. Poulin is very interesting, DeSmith is meh.

Agree, Saad should be a 1st and a A-/B+ prospect which is what Poulin is. I don't think Poulin is a A prospect but haven't watched him at all this year so maybe I'm wrong.

To me, an "A" prospect is first round pedigree that has done nothing to lose that pedigree. In this case, Poulin still looks like a future top-6 power forward for the Pens, so he's an A prospect. I think value-wise, Saad gets a first and a B prospect (middle six potential / likely NHL-er). I also value current prospect > magic bean pick.

Yeah, you're probably right on the prospect vs pick. Good point.

Personally think he loses value over the summer, don't see the Pens paying the same amount for a UFA. Which is why I included Galchenyuk - has around the value of a third round pick in a trade or just as a 'tryout' for Chicago to see if they would want him longer term.

Saad and his contract is not worth a 1st, especially with Galchenyuk going too.

Galchenyuk, 1st for Saad w/$2M retained, 3rd.
Galchenyuk, 2nd for Saad w/1.5M retained.

Do you just pretend to watch Saad and are just looking at a stat sheet or have you really watched Saad play more then a handful of games?

Bottom line, Hawks aren't retaining on Saad unless it's a big overpayment. They are no position to swallow dead cap money.

If you think Saad is a BAD contract you don't know Saad or hockey...don't know which at this point, but it's a totally ignorant comment.

Bottom line, Hawks love Saad and have no reason to move him which has been widely reported. Teams (oilers, avs, and pens) have inquired about Saad but the analysts are saying they will need to overpay for Saad because again, the Hawks love him and have no reason to move him. Behind Kane, and every analyst agrees, Saad has been our second best forward...better then guys like Cat. Again, you're either not watching saad play or you don't know hockey to suggest it's a bad contract.

Again, that's why nearly every Chicago AGM (which one assumes are done mostly by Chicago fans) is trading him away and 1/3rd are retaining, right? Someone's opinion of Saad and his contract is wrong, but it isn't mine. You just go ahead and keep pushing that shock button, it's fun to watch.

Because is being widely talked about in the media that teams are calling about Saad...it's really that simple buddy. Bottom line, as the professional analysts are saying, teams will have to overpay for Saad as Chicago has no reason to move him otherwise because he's been playing so well.

If you think you're not wrong, then get on the media forums and argue with the analysts instead of a couple of you guys on here standing alone in your opinions.
