Why would the Pens retain in the Baertschi deal? If the Pens wanted to pay Baertschi they could have grabbed him off of waivers.

This whole thing is horrible for the penguins.
A. the reason they didn't put anyone on LTIR this whole time is because of the 3+ million in bonus pay.
So you retain on Chucky to bring in a 4th liner and mess up their cap structure going forward. Brilliant.

B. why the hell do the penguins want an old Drug addict washed up forward. His career is done. Way too many drugs. You can see it in his face. it's all sunken. No thanks.
