I can't see the Islanders giving up a 25-year-old RFA for a 30-year-old UFA that probably wouldn't be in New York's plans beyond the expansion draft, with Pulock, Dobson and Wilde coming up on that side.

Would be a great trade with Montreal right now with all of the injuries, I doubt Vancouver would even consider trading Leivo for that value though.

Moving Demko in the slightest chance is a trade chip in a blockbuster trade to get either a top 6 forward, a top 4 dman at most. Canucks can't trade Baertschi because he already went thru waivers and wasn't claimed meaning no one was interested. I also think Schaller's bottom 6 services are worth more than a 6th rn (which is his trade value don't get me wrong) but the way he helps the canucks pk will not get benning to accept that trade, Leivo is IR for 3 months and NYI wouldn't give up Devon Toews for that

agree with this, but claiming SB off waivers is subject to having a) roster space and b) cap space. most teams couldn't for either or both of those reasons. i think that baertschi retained does have some value (maybe not a lot) for teams looking for secondary scoring.
also how does trading away your goalie of the future and resigning the older, expiring goalie fit the intent of this AGM? building for the future would be keeping him no?
