Benn For Subban

Created by: WhatNowDiscussion
Team: 2020-21 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 8, 2020

Description
Before you obliterate me in the comments read this.

PK seems to be slowly regaining his form. He hasn't been too shabby in his last 10 games recording 3 goals, 2 assists, +1, 24 shots , 11 hits, and 16 blocks. He hasn't really meshed well with anyone. PK has a very unique personalty. He's very out there and loves to be the center of attention. NJ has a quieter team with lower end leadership and few (if any) players to keep PK in check. PK would also slot in very well next to the young struggling Heiskinan.

Benn's game has been regressing pretty much since he won the Art Ross Trophy. He brings his all every night and is a great leader but it's still not enough to overshadow his lack of production. In his last 10 games, Benn has 3 goals, 2 assist , +1, 31 shots, 30 hits and, 7 blocks. With NJ having such a young team, Benn would be a wonderful addition to slot into the top six and help mentor young players like Hughes.

the concept isn't actually as bad as i initially thought. dallas needs another RHD. Both benn and subban need a kick start and are on long and impossible-to-move contracts. NJ does add here though.

Means Nadda or Come on Man...!
A PK trade puts him on his 4th team/pushing 31 y old/muching US$9Mil per/ and playing "good", as you think, in 'garbage time' as his first half-ish season, when it mattered, was brutal.
PK's next move is to TSN, FashionWeek or similar...

I wanted to post an armchair illustrating this but never got to it. I think it’s an interesting concept.

No.
Players like Wayne/Jagr/Coffey were highly sought after. PK is once again a DUMP-move by his host club; third times a charm I spose..........................

Nah. DAL has more use for Benn than they have for Subban. He's their captain. He brings leadership, physicality, strength and skill to the team.

Also considering since Benn won the Art Ross basically the whole system in DAL has changed from an ulta-offensive team with basically no defense and bad goalies to one of the best teams defensively with great goaltending... Benn still delivers well enough. His contract is risky and he's a tad overpaid for 50-60 point winger, but we knew this could happen when he was signed and it's not like he would've gotten any less back then.

As for Subban, he doesn't really bring anything to the team - he'd be a 2nd pair D costing us $9M per season.

There's no way Benn would waive for NJ.

I can't believe anybody would even think of this. It's a disgrace to Benn. You are forgetting the fact that Benn is a great leader and meshes amazingly in any lockeroom and Subban is the worst in the NHL at both of those things. You make Peter Chiarelli look like Ken Holland.

"He's exciting, impactful, helpful to the team. He's great for the community. He engages, and it's heartfelt. And he candidly cares about growing hockey. You think about those three things coming to New Jersey -- that's exactly what we need."- Ray Shero NJD General Manager

P.K. Subban was nominated by the Nashville Predators for the King Clancy Trophy- The Montreal Gazette

Benn would most likely be asked to waive his NMC so Dallas can start shopping him around. Once he waives it, he has no control on where he goes

Just because a player is having an off season has no relation to their leadership ability. Benn is and has been having off seasons, Toews had some off season, Kopitar had an off season, the list continues. You can hate on Subban all you want but he is one of the most dedicated and hardworking leaders in the NHL. There are multiple articles about it in addition to the millions of dollars he's raised for charity.

Look into his history with Montreal and Nashville with teammates and off ice behavior. There is obviously quite a few things you don't know.
