More than what Holl got, but on a 2-year deal. Somewhere between $2.5M and $3M.

Any comparables from other teams ?

Holl is currently higher on the Leafs depth chart but is older and plays the more important RH shot. hmm....

What about a 4-5 year deal? What's the number then..
Dermott has potential to get better imo and so having him locked up longer helps, yes?

That is hard one.
The most games hes played in a season so far is 64 games.

Starting the year injured IMO ensured he would be bridged rather than getting a 4-6 year deal.

There will be no offer for 4 years, 5 would be too low for marner to sign. Thinking less than 4m. But 4m Max.

Now I did say no to a 4 year deal... but. Although it would walk him to ufa it would line up nicely to re sign Matthews and nylander. 4 year deal would be very cheap. Cheaper than a 3 year deal.

Jake McCabe comparable ? He signed 1.6 million for 3 years in the summer of 2016, with 4 years of inflation that'll equal what ?

Though McCabe never hit the 100 game mark before that contract and Dermott might hit 160.

Madison Bowey ? though he signed a 1 year 1 million deal.

He doesnt play alot and doesnt get pts. Hes a 2 mill dollar defenceman as it sits today. I like him and i hope his development continues however pay a guy for what he is not what we hope he will be.

This, pretty much. I think Dubas will give him a contract value close to Holl, even though Holl plays more. Grzelcyk's contract could be a reference.

Well I agree with you. If possible as a Leaf, I would try to get Dermot long term. Girard signed at 5m, Andersson at 4.55m, Is Dermot about 4.15m X 6? Maybe similar to Sanheim who signed a few years ago.

Thing is, Dermott doesn't get that much TOI or point (not representative of his skill, of course), so the contract will likely be a pretty good one if long term.

Stats aren't everything, but his offensive production is the same as Andersson/s. Gee Dermot's plus minus is much better. I know some say Dermot has had sheltered minutes But last year his main partner was a Russian rookie and this year it's been Ceci. So really when he's been on the ice he has been "the man". on defence. His ice time and points are down because he doesn't play the PP. Reilly this year and Reilly/Gardiner in the previous two years dominated PP ice time. Next year assuming the LHD is going to be Reilly, Dermot and Sandin, Dermot is going to get lots of PK minutes

I disagree on the valuation here, even though I like Dermott. He has that speed burst I find very well suited for the modern NHL. But we can't compare him to Girard, and there's still uncertainty, especially with Sandin who'll be competing for a top pairing spot. Girard was a regular in the NHL at age 19, and was trusted with big minutes before signing. And he played above 1ppg in the OHL at age 17. Very different trajectories.

Dubarelli handled out two premium overpays and tied 50M into 7 Forwards. He signed 3rd Pair Holl to 3 x 2M after one "full" NHL Season where kid was paired with only player thats playing D for last 2 years called Muzzin, with honorable mention of young Dermott. Im not saying Holl sucks, kid has some mature moves but knowing Sandin and Liljegren are coming for 3rd Pair, i dont know, i think that was a failed signing too, even if they will try to include Holl into some trade, other Teams would like to see him at 925k.

With above said not much money is left on the table to build Playoff D, TML cant afford any more longterm contracts, so Dermott as No.5 D with the upside to be No.4 one but at the bottom of the list of those, he will be 3 x 2,8-3,5M, which is again way to much for 3rd Pair quality. If FA will allow TML to bring in any 1st Pair RHD to cover three corners of Rielly's reckless play in own zone, the future of TML is again as for last 50 years.....McCabe - Kaberle as D core to bring Parade into town.....history shows its not working.
