would absolutely love to get Anderson... but he will cost more than that.. much more.

1st Sanford and high end prospect probably.
OR
a 1 for 1 trade with a similar aged player like Dunn.

He has 4 points in 26 games, you're really overvaluing Anderson, this is a more then fair offer as is.

I’m not sure about Anderson. I’ve always felt like he was a strong player but he’s played almost 500 minutes this year and has 4 points. I’m assuming it’s a combination luck and injury, but I’d we’re getting a player like that it has to be a super low price

Just thought it was interesting given Chief's ideal style of player. He'd be a big upgrade from Sanford regardless of the point production this year. Pairing him with Thomas could definitely get him going with some greasy goals.

It could work considering Thomas lights it up every time he gets to play with physical, grinding wingers who can finish. I saw somewhere that Kase might be available and I think that would be an amazing fit who could boost 5v5 offense by a lot. Stick him on the ROR line and I bet he scores 30+ goals. The only issue is that I have no idea what he’d cost.
Imagine:
Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko
Kase-O’Reilly-Perron
Blais-Thomas-Bozak
Barbashev-Sundqvist-Mac

I like Kase a lot. Seems like a guy that would go for a lot less than what we all would expect. His underlying numbers have been pretty much star-caliber but he's always underutilized or injured.

My only worry is that he’s actually played 16 minutes a night this year and hasn’t lit it up production wise like everyone expected, but at you mentioned he’s visibly talented and has ridiculous underlyings.

This is an overpay. Anderson has been absolutely awful this season and Blues fans go overwrought about Sanford regardless of how he actually plays (which is typically not bad). They just have to have somebody to tear down, and since they can't bag on Allen these days, here we go on Sanford.

A 25-yr old RFA who scored 27 goals in 18-19 and then shoots below 2% through half of this season, and gets an injury to boot, seems like a great buy low option. Anderson has spent time on all 4 lines, hasn't been able to stick with any linemates this year, but he's already shown that he can produce in the NHL. You and I watch Sanford all the time, at this point we know his highest level of play and how infrequently he actually reaches it.

First of all, you have to consider that he'll likely require a raise this summer. In other words, more Petro bucks to find somewhere. That changes the equation. It had better be worth it to alter the clubhouse and hand over that 2020 2nd. Sanford's not as bad as many make him out to be, he's just inconsistent. He's actually driving play fairly well (and better than Anderson) and generally playing well on the boards. By playoff time, he'll be a healthy scratch anyway. And a guy we know will get it done in the big game if he's called in suddenly, which is not nothing.

Off year with not really much to play with in CBJ outside of their top line. He is an RFA and is one of the last power forwards that can score left in the game. If he was an UFA I would agree it would not take as much. My offer may have been a bit high as I did not realize he only had 4 points this season. But for CBJ to be willing to move him it would have to be something worth while to them.

Maybe revise to a 1st, sanford and mid level prospect instead of top prospect.
OR
2nd Sanford and top prospect.

You think Sanford and a 2nd is an overpay for Josh Anderson?! You are a delusional Bluesier man.

Well, you just said "Maybe revise to a 1st, sanford and mid level prospect instead of top prospect. OR 2nd Sanford and top prospect." Doesn't that seem like just a bit too much for Anderson, even before we take into account the cap issue with his raise next season? Sorry, but a 2020 1st, a player that is arguably just as good (and cheaper and already in the room and comes correct in the playoffs on short notice) plus a decent prospect is excessive for a guy in the biggest lull of his career. And something like a Kostin + 2020 2nd is just out of the question. We could get a better, more reliable player elsewhere for less than that, and even one that won't make signing Petro next summer harder to put together.

Right Sanford and a 2nd is not an overpay. Anderson is better than Sanford so you have to give the 2nd to make it worth it to CBJ. IMO that second is not enough to get CBJ to give up Anderson. Therefor you have to give up MORE to get him. Which is why you make the 2nd a first or add a prospect.

They are the same age and draft class.

Sanfords best season 60 gp 20 points

Anderson has put up better numbers than that 3 years straight scoring 27 one of those years... and he is physical and in your face and hard to play against on a consistent basis.

Except now, when he isn't and he's not. He's been objectively inferior to Sanford this season. And it's not a close call, either. And, again, Anderson comes at an additional cap variables cost. Anyway, you can sure bet Army ain't giving a 2020 1st or someone like Kostin to get him from Columbus. So there's also that.
