I think Valimaki + 2nd round pick is fair but their fans will say no

I think this isn't all that much a tear-down, but okay

Petry may get you more, on pace for 45 pts.
Danault may not move due to KK not playing well, also Poehling will play over Peca. Even Cousins will (on pace for 25 pts).
If you do decide to move Danault, Suzuki will play 2C

I know the more the merrier but how many LDs does Montreal need? If we look in the system we've got 6 guys that are potentially good* (Struble, Norlinder, Romanov, Harris, Fairbrother and LeGuerrier) plus Chiarot and Kulak are signed 3 more years and Mete will clearly be resigned.
As of now biggest need to build for the future would be wingers, once Gallagher and Tatar start regressing we'll be in a tough spot with only Caufield and Ylönen having top 6 upsides.

All in all trades should target wingers and RDs, especially if you trade away Petry.

*Not said to be a bust.

I just removed pieces i thought were Moveable. IMO Weber/Price have untouchable contracts. Domi, Drouin, Kotkaniemi & Gallagher are untouchables at least for this year. I think Gallagher wont be a Hab come Feb of next year but i don't think they are at that point to trade him yet

I agree in all aspects. I feel CGY trade comes together because while all those guys you named are going to be solid NHL players i dont think any of them with confidence you could say are going to be Top pair material on more than half of the league. Valimaki IMO is the Top pair LHD prospect Habs need at the moment.

I think maybe weber/price can be moved if a team is desperate for defense (right side) *cough* TOR *cough* or desperate for goalie *cough* CBJ *cough*

I cant imagine any team doing it. just because the cost of either of those players is going to be 1-2 1st + A+ Level prospect + Roster player and the trade bites them in the ass in the last 2-4 Years of each of their deals.

Maybe it could just be a 1st or an A+ and D- prospect?
btw how do you tell what grade a prospect is

Sorry i did scouting for OHL teams so its what i am use to grading as. Letter grades are assigned to players whom have shown ability that you feel can progress to the next level/skill cap

Level 4 / A: Top Pair | Top 6 Forwards
Level 3 / B: Middle 6 Forwards | Middle Pair Defence
Level 2 / C: Bottom 6 Forwards | Middle/Bottom Pair Defence
Level 1 / D: 4th Line Forwards | 6/7th Defencemen

These grades are always assigned to skills they have that can be transitioned to the next level. its a broad classification

Yea F is your player whom is felt does not have the skill set to transition to a higher skill level, Players in this classification are determined to be passed in drafts
