Overpay. And yeah, Rielly isn't playing his best right now but he had 52 points two years ago and 72 points last year and is on pace for around 50 this year with a reasonable cap hit for 2 more years. Why would you want to trade him? He is a great point producer from the back-end that TOR would be missing if they traded him. Jones would be a good compliment for Rielly - if you had Jones, you'd be looking to add a guy like Rielly.

Way too much. Anderson isn't even good. Jones is a beast sure, but so is Rielly. Unfortunately Rielly is falling victim to the what have your done for me lately and he's a Leaf so he sucks mentality that plagues this site. It hasn't even been a full season since he finished 5th in Norris voting and he's now just an offensive defenceman that isn't worth hardly anything.

- I think its generous to Anderson to say Anderson = Johnsson
- Yes, Jones > Reilly, but certainly not at the expense of Nylander and a 2nd. Not even close.

Honestly, I think the leafs D will be JUST FINE next year even without Muzzin or Barrie. Their patience with Sandin and Liljegren is going to pay off, and they should have some cash to spend on a veteran that we cost much less than Muzzin or Barrie in both AAV and term. My ideal leafs defence next year is:

Reilly - Holl
Dermott - Liljegren
Sandin - Solid RHD Vet

Pairings can be debated, but I think that could be solid.

I agree completely, and honestly, Marcinin has at least forced Dubas to consider him as an outside option. He's been pretty good over the past number of games, although he does this to me all the time. He's never going to be a point producer or flashy at all but when he plays a simple safe game he can be a really effective bottom pair guy and he really is a terrific penalty killer. I think he's better than Ceci. There was one sequence last night where Marincin was behind the net with the puck ready to setup for a breakout and Ceci skated from his corner, behind the net, ran into Marincin, took the puck and lost it in the corner. And that is exactly what Ceci is, just dumb.

"Would this be enough?" Is the exact opposite of how you enter any negotiation.

If you base value on Point production, contract term and cap hit, age etc. Rielly and Jones are technically the same player

What do you think about Hamonic? I think he'd be the perfect partner for Rielly. Jones is the only better option IMO but Hammy only costs us cash. What say you?

Likely out of the Leafs price range. You can count on Reilly, Dermott, Holl, Sandin and Liljegren to take 5 spots next year. I imagine that you need one decent RHD, but probably wouldn't spend more than $3m in it. I would consider Hamonic at 3 or 4 years @ 3.5m, but I think he will go for more.

I'd be willing to go up to 5.5 for him depending on term. I know he isn't the flashiest player but he gets the job done on the defensive end of the game. But yeah, he definitely gets more than that and I get your reservations with him. Either way, it should be an interesting TDL and off-season and our D core isn't looking as bad as it did a year ago!
