simple trade now leaves openings for trade deadline

Created by: nabnuke

Description
Thoughts: Trade for Toffoli and Trevor Lewis. Toffoli fills the top six winger roll that we can use. Lewis would be an upgrade in the bottom six, plays similar style to what the Pens play and be a great penalty killer.
This should also set up Rutherford with the ability for additional trades. I think Schultz, Bjugstad, and Galchenyuk could all be swapped to upgrade the team...maybe new 3rd line center or a d upgrade for playoffs. Thoughts?
Also, personally I don't have a desire to see Addison, Poulin, or Legare traded unless we get someone that's really good and will be around for more than just a rental.

Take out the LAK 2nd and the PIT 3rd, while adding a condition on the 5th to be upgraded to a 2021 3rd if Toffoli resigns. Then the Kings accept. But they won't want to get rid of what is in essence a late 1st round pick with their 2020 2nd.

I can see the Kings trading Toffoli and Lewis for a 2nd and Hallander. You can include Simon if you want to free up a roster spot.

Pittsburgh really shouldn't be giving up their 1st round picks anymore.

Cold take. If Pens trade all of are picks i'd be siked. Crosby is 32 and is no longer the best player in the world. We have maybe 2 years left until him and Malkin are nothing more than mediocre 1st liners, our window is closing ridiculously fast and if Pens don't win in the next 2 years, they will have to do a full rebuild. Our last bunch of first round picks have been busts anyways! (Poulin (he's really not that good), Maatta, Pouliot, Morrow, Bennett, Despres, Espositio) the only good one we have had in the last decade is Kap and we traded him for Kessel (which won us 2 cups). Get rid of our first round picks, and get more cups.

this is such a bad take on the team. If they had been healthy all year this team would be a cup favorite.
Malkin has been a beast this year.

I don't think trading with LA is the right move.
That team is so slow it's unbelievable.
Even their "fast" players would be middle of the pack on most playoff teams.
They never adjusted to the modern NHL game. It shows on the ice. Hell that game the other night on the NHL network was embarrassing for them. It was like trying to watch a team skate through mud.
After seen Pearson come over to the penguins last year, I'm really suspect on paying a high price from anyone on that slow team.
