Yo Habs fans - the biggest reason why COL is not trading Grubauer for Price

Description
Because they're not getting a major upgrade to their goaltending, and it most likely prevents them from re-signing Landeskog.

But moving Tatar should work for both teams.

Yeah youre right... I see EDM, VAN or CGY as better fits. Those teams needs a true 1G.

Funny, considering all 1Gs of these teams have performed better than Price this year. All of Koskinen, Markström and Rittich have SV% over 0,91 and GAA around 2.8. Price has SV% of 0.902 and GAA of over 3.
The amount of games they've played are also quite comparable.

Doubtful that gets you Tatar with the way he's been producing for MTL. Kamenev would be at best 5th or 6th on MTL's C depth chart right now, with 3 of those ahead of him being younger. Mutala does peak my interest a bit but not much. A late 1st for a top 6 winger on pace for nearly 70 points, in a career year but still, and with another year remaining at a decent cap just isn't likely to do it.

Fair enough. What would you like to get more then?

If there's a trade for sure they'd ask for the homeboy Beaucage. Tatar for a 1st 2020 + Beaucage + Mutala, I'd gladly try to pull Sampo Ranta with it but don't think I could add prospect in the trade.

If Colorado was willing to part with Timmins I would say add him in, maybe in place of one of the others, because MTL only has 3 young RD and Petry and Weber are aging, but that might push it to far in MTL's favour depending on how they feel about him. Also MTL would need to make some other small side deals to clear contract space, but that's just basic housekeeping.

I could maybe see them doing Kamenev+Beaucage+1st for Tatar+Kulak.

Timmins is most likely off limits. MTL have more RHD prospect than COL has.

Don't see this trade working for Montreal. They could get more elsewhere.

That's what I figured. I'm not sure what Colorado would be willing to add, and what MTL would want depends on how big of a selloff they are doing when Tatar goes.

If you look closer to the stats of those goalie carey price doesn’t received a tons of shot like the other goaltender. Mtl average more than 15 scoring chance against right in the red zone a game. I think they are last in the league. Carey price haven’t been great this year but the team have played awful in front of him hiving top end chance after chance. A lot of the goal score against him have been cross ice pass. So is stats are not great but that doesn’t reflect the true reality since he have been shar’ in a lot of game saving big time goal but he is human. He can’t always save goal on cross ice 2-1 pass or when defenseman blow coverage and let a man right in the slut. Just watch a few game of the habs and you will understand what i am saying.
