If the Preds want to win now, they would likely accept that trade.

If the Preds want to win now, next year, and for the next 5 years they accept that trade. Holy hannah that's one sided

Why on earth would Montreal do that with Nashville? Tolvanen has a good season in the KHL and even in his first AHL season, but now he's on a worst pace than last year. At best, it's Tatar for Tolvanen + 2nd. Then we are trading Mete + Juulsen for a 4th. How does that make sense?

Petry starts with a first round pick. Habs reject.

Do you actually think Montreal would pay up assets for Abdelkader? You have to give us a very good prospect if you want to trade him.

Montreal isn't going to pay all of those future assets for a guy who is going to get overpaid in the offseason.
Not sure why Oiler fans are so attached to Samorukov, but I wouldn't trade Lehkonen or Armia 1 for 1 for him.

What purpose does the Jett Woo trade do for Montreal? He's doing worst than last year and he's a year older

Do you think Detroit could actually get value for Abdelkader? You likely have to send a 2nd round pick + a very good prospect back if you want to offload him.

Hamilton is a career 40-50 PT defender who is going to get overpaid because of this year. I don't think Montreal should have any interest in him.

Tatar is a real good player. Montreal have some big decisions coming up but if they decide to trade him at the deadline he will be the top forward available.

I agree that he is a solid player and playing well for MTL these past couple of years. But I think there may be some weary GMs out there that remember the last time he was traded around the deadline to VGK for a haul and it definitely did not work out. So teams may not think he can gel in time with a new team to make an impact. Who knows, but I definitely think he is one of the top forwards available if he is put on the market. Plus he has an extra year which a lot of teams will like - and that typically ups the price.

The facts that he didn’t have success with vegas doesn’t chance a thing in is value. He didn’t have succes with vegas because he was on their 3 line and most of the time their fourth line. Vegas had already 2 solid line with solid chemistry. Tatar have 5 straight 20 goal season and will get there for the 6th time in a few game. He will likely break the 60 point and he can help the powerplay. If a team need a top 6 forward he will be useful but if a team acquire him and play him on a checking line he sure won’t have the same impact

I'm not discrediting his skill or goal scoring - just saying who knows what will happen. But I do agree he needs a top 6 role to play to his potential.

And on the goal scoring point, Craig Smith and Tomas Tatar have identical goal totals over the past 7 seasons (including this one). Just thought that was interesting.

edit: messed up the calculation a bit -- the VGK quarter season threw me off when adding them up. Tatar actually has 19 more goals over that span - but still pretty close. Oh well

Detroit says yes please! Can't imagine Montreal fans feel the same way.

Craig smith have been a good players for Nashville. And around the league in general. Where not talking about a crosby or barkov but he does a lot of thibgs that coaches like. He is a pretty complete hockey players. I am talking about smith here ?. He was playing with mike fischer if my memories is good a few years ago. Nice players. He is doiing ok this year maybe a new coaches will spark that team.
