Description
Edmundson has been a liability. -.287 xGA/60 for any D man is bad, let alone someone who makes 3.1 mill. Moving him is in the team's best interests. I know You're gonna go "if he's bad why does he deserve this much?" He's bad from an analytical standpoint. There are teams that do not use analytics that will bite on Edmundosn.

McGinn, nothing wrong with him. Very good player, he just isn't needed. He's always gonna be loved because of his goal in game 7 against the Crapitals,

CAR
  1. Lehner, Robin ($2,500,000 retained)

  1. 2021 1st round pick (CAR)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (WPG)
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
The 2021 1st is conditional on Lehner re-signing. He is NOT worth ANYTHING to Carolina if he's just gonna join the list of goalies who walk into free agency. FWIW I'd rather have Halak, I just cannot think of any reasonable deal for Boston to let him go

Why not keep Petr and send Reimer to Hawks? You could take the retention off Lehner’s salary too. Those 5th and 7th you get from the Jackets won’t help much compared to trading a good 1B type goalie to a division rival.

So you want lehner with half retained and you're only giving up next years 3rd and a 2nd that's 2 years out? No thanks.

Reimer makes more, his contract is MUCH more difficult to move. It's also laid out uniquely, someone could buyout Reimer easily, whereas Reimer's deal is buyout proof

I think Lehner may be one of only 2-3 guys possible on the trade market that could fetch a 1st as a rental. If a team thinks they need a goalie, there aren’t many available.

I don’t follow the comment about buying out Reimer or Mrazek (I think there is a typo in there which makes it confusing). If I’m the Hawks or the Canes I’m not taking a Goalie with the thoughts of buying them out - they each only have one year left. If you trade Petr bring in Lehner while keeping Reimer...you put yourself in a position of only having Ned+Reimer next year if Lehner doesn’t re-sign. If you trade Reimer, you arguable have a much stronger goalie situation overall.

I just don’t think you’d get a return for Petr which would equal the utility of keeping him in Raleigh. Where I do think that in the right package, the Hawks would take Reimer’s contract.

Reimer has been the better goalie of the two so far, so I'd argue first of all it's worth holding Reimer over Mrazek. You are correct in there being a typo. Mrazek's contract could be bought out quite easily, however Reimer's deal being bought out would cause a lot of issues for whoever buys him out.

There aren't a lot of goalies on the market, but Lehner isn't worth a 1st straight up if he doesn't come with a deal. As I stated, I'd much prefer to take a run at someone like Jaroslav Halak if we're giving up a 1st +. That way Boston could flip the picks to get another rental at the deadline,. Halak is better than Lehner, and Halak is on a far cheaper deal. I targetted Lehner because he's the "overhyped" guy at the deadline. He's gonna be overpaid for by someone and what he does for them is going to be minimal as opposed to Halak who consistently put up great stats.
