Non playoff teams (next year too) shouldn't be squeezed against the cap. Sabres shouldn't have so many higher priced non value forwards....Okposo, Skinner, and Johansen would be another one.

You clearly haven’t watched a single game.

1.) Dahlin will be our best dman but he struggled for couple weeks before he got hurt.
2.) he is on pace for almost 40 points again. With only 3 pp points he usually gets over 20. And 3 less mins a night. While still playing against other teams top lines and PK.
3.) leads all dman in even strength points. And is a plus 0 which was everyone biggest knock on him. Last year was -40.
4.) he has looked even better past couple weeks.
5.) ask any Sabre fan who watches the game they will tell you they don’t want to trade him.

He still is on for less than 50% of goals,, xGF, and Chances iirc, he has the scond highest QoC on the sabres blueline, but also has a smilar QoT, so hat balances out, yet his affect on the team is below average, and not close to the best on his team

For one he is only 27 and is 60 point center which sabres desperately need. He also plays on team built around defense. You put him on sabres and pair him with Reinhart and skinner his point totals will be in 70s. Also, with the expansion draft coming up. I can see sabres exposing all three.

Those stats do not take in account for quality of competition. If he didn’t play against top lines every shift he would have better stats. If dahlin was forced to play against top lines his stats would be worse. His game is night and day from last year and that is why his name hasn’t been in rumor mill even though Sabre’s have 6-7 RHD who can play at least top 6 minutes and 3-4 who can play top 4.

Derrick Bassard went for 3rd last year for the exact same point totals. So yeah i think that is a very fair trade.
Also, with all the injuries to pit, they need help and having a guy that already familiar with system and players would help alot.
