Exactly haha, he has next to no value because if teams wanted him more would've been in on him during his UFA time. At best he's worth a 5th, but I wouldn't give up much more than that for him.
As for that, DeSmith & Lindgren is a weird move but DeSmith is the better goalie IMO.

Montreal rejects the Pittsburgh trade. Why on earth would we take Johnson's contract for Tatar when we could get that or even more for Tatar?

I'm not too sure I understand why LA would take Jack Johnson, who is 32 and has 3 years left at $3.25M for Ben Hutton, who is 26 and at less than half of that with his contract expiring after this year. And on top of that, LA gives up the higher draft pick.
