Solid analysis Dach - I don’t see a 2nd plus a conditional 1st as a garbage return. Why do you think so?

Hawks are not trading Lehner at all, doesn't matter what team. He is our future for goaltending, wouldn't be surprised if Crawford retires next year.

Fine, you can remove the prospect if necessary. But I’d really like more Slavin.

So what’s the extension going to be? You could also trade him and try to sign me as UFA again if you want. Take the 2x2nds

Who said they arent trading him? Hes been in rumours for the last several months...

Also why keep Lehner if you are also not going pick up relevant talent to take another run at the cup?

Can you make this your description on CF? I wanna laugh if he leaves in free agency or is traded at the deadline

You're years away from contending. You have the worst defence west of Detroit. You have two superstars who have already started to regress in Kane and Toews. DeBrincat's 40 goals seemed to have disappeared. What Chicago NEEDS is to blow it up and start again. Don't trade everything, but Lehner, Gustafsson, etc should be moved for prospects and picks. Keep hold of Strome and DeBrincat. It's better to rebuild then trying to salvage something from the rubble you have right now.

All that said, I actually like this as a deal. Killinen was great at the WJC's. Chicago get a nice prospect and 2 2nds, and possibly a 1st if he extends. I like this. As I've stated, I'd rather target someone like Jaro Halak, but this is a nice idea.

Just because there's rumors doesn't mean he's getting traded. And Lehner is only 28 so we've got plenty of time. Like for example this year's draft we're picking up someone with a top 10, possibly top 5 pick.

Never said Hawks were contending, and if we trade Lehner who's going to be the goalie? Crawford? What happens when he retires next year? No one

Sign one in free agency, it's how you got Lehner. There's a LOAD of good goalies gonna hit the free agent market this year. Plus you have Delia, and the GOAT Scott Foster.

Edit: AND You get Reimer in the trade, who's under contract next year

Delia is mediocre and with the current defense we'll need more than mediocre.

It helps you tank during your rebuild. I thought that's the point of a re-build?

Lehner is a ufa so if Chicago has any doubts on him wanting to resign you have to trade him if you're out of the playoffs.

Top 10 pick isnt going to make you a contender my friend

Your most likely not going to see Kane or Toews win a cup again with Chicago, so you really need to look down the road

With Lehner we're already getting a Top 10 pick. I think our tank is good enough.

Side note: Thanks for being competent, unlike some others here

I'd like to think that I'm objective on here. I'm a Hawks fan (also do like the Canes as well, but Hawks 1st) This is a pretty darn good trade. I'd make a few small tweaks. Make it almost exactly like the Mats Zuccarello deal. BOTH 2nds are conditional. The 1st conditional is on playoff success. That makes sense...it means this trade helped CAR toward future succuess. Win Win. The 2nd...2nd rounder is also conditional because it's believed that CAR wants to extend Lehner then CAR believes he's their solution in net for the long term future.

As for the convo about him leaving. Lehner was asked this very question and responded exactly how I thought he would. Probably how we all thought he would. He wants a fair contract. He likes CHI, but wants a fair price. I 100% get it. He deserves it. All the more reason Stan needs to make this trade. I'd personally make this trade and then talk to him in the summer with everyone else. If CAR ends up spending more for him. Hawks get the upgraded pick. If the Hawks end up paying more for him...then this trade wasn't as expensive. Make the trade this year. Eat HALF the cap and see how things pan out.

Please explain how Kane has regressed and when you do so, other then saying it's your opinion, support it with stats.

This isn't bad value but have a very hard to thinking the Hawks would trade Lehner for anything shy of a 1st OR A/A- prospect plus...this being a minimal requirement to get the conversation going. Furthermore, it will not be tied to an extension as the Hawks would only trade him as a pure rental with the hopes they will sign him back in free agency. You are right, Hawks are rebuilding but doing so on the fly so that said, a 1st OR A or A- prospect will be needed to start the conversation.

Go to that link and Enter Kane, then look at prior years. There's your stats, and when you question what the stats say, make sure you can back it
