Does Saad Make Sense

Created by: KennyBoi
Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2020
Published: Jan. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CHI needs a LHD and moore fits that need for them, BOS won't part with gryz. Does having Saad 2rw make sense for BOS tho? I would have to think a retention is needed. Personally, I think there are better options.
Trades
BOS
  1. Saad, Brandon ($1,500,000 retained)
CHI
  1. Forsbacka Karlsson, Jakob [Reserve List]
  2. Moore, John
  3. Zboril, Jakub
  4. 2021 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
2021 3rd becomes 2021 2nd if BOS makes SCF within 2yrs

You'd have to give up more than that. Moore has little value, Zboril looks like a bust, JFK is an average prospect (and don't forget he's already 23), Bowman says no.

Here's the analysis...

Moore, the guy who can't stay up in the lineup. "Chicago needs a LHD" sure, give us the guy who sits in the pressbox but is lefthanded....oh yeah, he's got a $2.75M cap hit for the next 3 years also.

Zboril, career AHL guy and btw, he's on his last year of his contract this year.

Karlsson, 24 year old prospect next year also on an expiring deal but here's the real kicker, he's so good he's back in sweden playing in the SHL after looking like crap in the AHL.

BTW Chicago, we'll throw in a 3rd but you need to retain $1.5M

...so what do you think?

You've got to be freaking kidding me! LMAO this is horrible! laugh

So why don't you tell him what the fair value would be because you look like an idiot here.
Great analysis ?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'll give you that. Part you and your genius "analysis" don't know is Saad would be a very good fit for the Bruins. Only this is not close to the proper value.

I'm very aware saad is a very good fit for both the Bruins and Pens not to mention decent fit on the Oilers and Avs. The problem with a lot of these trades being proposed on here is the Hawks aren't trading him for less then a late 1st and good B+ prospect or a 3rd IMO and the opinion of Hawks media insiders. Saad is more valuable to the Hawks then anything less then that.

Starts with a 1st then add a B+ prospect or 3rd and especially if you want retention.

Actually reports are JFK is back home in Sweden while he deals with some family health issues. Zboril is also far from a bust, but I wouldn't expect you to know thay since its clear you are just judging based on a few stats.

JFK

Regarding Zboril, okay let's say he's not a bust as he's decent in the AHL, so his first season in the NHL will be when? He's 23 next month and drafted back in 2015. What do you honestly see his potential at this point, #5 or #6 guy?

Not sure what the link is for. No idea who thay person is that wrote it either.

Zboril is essentially blocked, which is part if the reason he isnt in the NHL.

Chara
Krug
Grz
Moore
Vaak
Lauzon
Zboril

Boston has a ton of LHD depth, so its no surprise he hasnt seen NHL action. I dont think hes a 1/2 like he was projected to be on draft day, but still has 3/4 upside. At worst a 3rd pairing TWD that plays on the edge.

I like saad but to get him and cash retained it requires atkeast 1 big piece. Maybe a 1st or a higher prospect than jfk or zaboril.

So, I’m not necessarily saying this is fair value for Saad, but i think your analysis is quite far off here. Let’s start with Moore. Yes, he isn’t consistently in the lineup, but it isn’t really by his own doing. They signed him to be a player, and then Matt grzelcyk blossomed. So, in terms of LHD, he’s kind of blocked. They’re trying to get grzelcyk on the right side more frequently so he can play. He’s a decent player, but getting one of Chara, Grzelcyk, or Krug to sit is a pretty tough task. All three of those guys are top four d men. John Moore isn’t. He’s a third pair guy that can fill in on a second pair in case of injury without killing you.

There is absolutely no reason to say that Zboril is a career AHL guy. He’s actually looking really good in providence this year, and has taken some major strides forward. D men sometimes take a while, that’s just a fact. Again, he’s pretty well blocked in Boston given their situation on the left side of the D. He’s in the NHL for a lot of teams. Bad pick? Probably, but to label him as a career AHLer is very far off.

JFK went to sweden this year because he was blocked to hell after the Coyle trade. He’s a pretty solid prospect, and looked like a bonafide NHL player last year.

I don’t think the bruins have interest in Saad anyway, so it’s not really worth discussing I suppose.
