CHI BUF Deadline Moves

Created by: ForsbergForVezina
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2020
Published: Jan. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Saad strikes me as a younger and maybe even better version of Anders Lee; good skater (better than Lee), likes to crash the net and is responsible defensively. He'd fit in really well on the Island and has another year on his deal.

Back to the Hawks goes Bode Wilde, a consensus first round pick in 2018 who slipped to the 2nd round. Despite falling, Wilde had an excellent draft+1 year in the OHL and has played in the AHL this year as a 19 year old. He's definitely a year or two away but definitely has top-4 potential as a two-way defenseman. Also thrown in is Michael Dal Colle, a guy who had a strong rookie year but has faltered a lot this season. Perhaps a change of scenery could help him?

Rodrigues would be a depth pickup, might be able to get him for less. It's a good risk to take imo, if he can play 3rd line minutes like he did last season, he'd be a nice addition.

You'd have to drop Dal Colle and upgrade the 3rd rounder to a 1st.

Honestly, Body Wilde is a pretty darn good return. I'd do this trade from the CHI pov.

Agree that Body Wilde is a decent return but he's a RHD. We've got Murphy for another 3 years, Boqvist and Mitchell; Wilde isn't going to replace any of them but given a couple years of development I think he will be pretty good. That said, he's another puck moving defenseman on the right also, that's what Mitchell and Boqvist are so how exactly does he fit? Good insurance, but if Mitchell is the real deal, and we know Boqvist is, he likely would get traded.

All that said, recognizing the value in Widle, Roviet is right...drop Dal Colle and bump up the 3rd to a 1st or at least a 2nd.

I mean, that's fine. To me that's the minor part. Maybe Bowman values Dal Colle...maybe he doesn't. IDK. But for the main piece...as long as Ian Mitchell will still sign. I'm ok with the return. RHD are a premium. But I hear ya.

Are you concerned Mitchell won't sign and are you hearing anything about it?

Honestly, no. I haven't heard anything that he won't. I've only heard that he will. I'm just trying to connect dots. I don't think Bowman is dumb...thats my opinion, but that joki trade was the worst trade in his career...again my opinion. Maybe he's banking on Mitchell signing and at THAT point was willing to accept less on the back end for what a "greater whole"?

Would you trade Johnsson for Saad? Can't image the Hawks doing that.
