If Muzzin AND Barrie dont resign

Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2020
Published: Jan. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Is the trade fair? Am I giving up too much? Am I way off? Does my love for Keith give him more value than he should have? Do I underestimate Johnsson's value?

Here's my take on the trade: we all know (so do I, and I say this as a HUGE fan of Keith) that Keith's offence has taken a serious drop in quality around 2018. That being said, Reilly is a beast a that and Sandin will soon be a 40-45 points guy, maybe even more, who knows. Keith would be the 3rd offensive option on defence in Toronto.

As for Johnsson, I think he's expandable. I mean, Hyman has proven himself to be a capable top line winger with Marner and Matthews, while Engvall is proving that he's a great PK guy and he can even score goals on a regular basis. We'll have to see what Mikheyev ca do after that terrible injury, but I assume he'll bounce back.

So anyway, Keith would be number 3 on the Leafs' depth chart behind of course Sandin and Reilly. He would however have to replace Muzzin's role on the PK. A Keith-Holl pairing could even be a possible option as a shutdown duo.

Let me know what you think about all that.

Should I change the pick for a 3rd rounder then?

Just no, I am about as adamant as anyone about how bad term is for declining assets.

Keith is unlikely to waive to go anywhere but his hometown or possibly Florida to play with Coach Q as the two had a great relationship. That said, Chicago will need Keith next year also, and with the emergence of Kubalik and with Saad, no need for Johnsson, unless of course Saad gets traded as rumor has it. That said, doubt Hawks are willing to part with Keith. DeHaan and Maatta though should be available before Keith on the left side.

Do you think the value is fair?

And I could totally see a top line composed of Johnsson-Toews-Kane

I think the value is pretty spot on.

Saad - Toews - Kane is a better line though smile

That being said, Hawks aren't loading up the top line.
Saad - Toews - Kubalik
Cat - Strome - Kane
Johnsson - Dach - Nylander/Sikura

That's a decent top 9 but it's going to be a mess when we get the #1 pick in the draft and grab AF for next year; confused not sure what we are going to do? smile

Have the greatest top 9 in the league for 3-4 years maybe?

Maybe?

Lafreniere - Toews - Saad
Cat - Strome - Kane
Johnsson - Dach - Kubalik

That's pretty good for sure. Speaking of which, do you guys want Nylander or Sikura?

Yeah, I think older Nylander can get into younger Nylander's head. Alex has skills, but I think under his older brother's wings he would flourish.

And if not, then the Leafs bring back their daddy to help both those spoiled ****s out
