Don't see why Montreal would do this. They aren't really getting any quality pieces, just getting quantity. They reject.

I'd argue Leafs are overpaying.

I'm sure they are, but it's 5 pieces for one. Montreal has no interest.

Id argue that both SDA and Johnsson are quality pieces, but if you think they arent I can do nothing about that.

Huge overpay for Petry especially as a rental.

I'm not saying Habs should trade Petry, but his value will never be higher. He has two playoff series left on his contract before a UFA. Compared to the Muzzin deal, Habs would be getting more.
Don't think the Habs would get more from another team.
Gotta think the Rangers really want a NHLer or sure fire prospect for Georgiev, not that package.

I think Rangers would accept. Curious though. What is up with Bracco? Do the leafs not have the room to bring him up to the big club?

I don't often agree with Leafs fans on this site, but I do here. First, the Habs would need to eat a full 50% of the cap hit to make it work for Toronto (that's not a problem), and then most of these picks would need to be conditional on something for Toronto to feel comfortable. On the flip side, Johnsson is a decent player and Der-Arguchintsev is a middling prospect who can pass but has no shot. So the picks are what will make this deal worthwhile for Montreal.

I don't think this is a bad trade for both franchises. From the Leafs perspective they get a very capable 2nd pairing rd with another year. It also gives the Leafs an opportunity to trade Barrie for assets like draft picks that they desperately need. This move makes room for Bracco. From the Habs perspective we get a lw who can contribute offensively who could easily be on the second pairing. Johansson is under term for 3 more season at 3.4 mil, that's an favorable cap hit. He is responsible defensively. In turn, we move Tatar for another trade at deadline who just as Petry has another year of contract. Losing Petry isn't so bad knowing that on the right side we have Jullsen, Brooks and Fleury making a push for roster spots. We also have cap space to replace Petry.
I don't what the logistics of moving Price are but MB should be entertain any idea because he clearly doesn't want to play in MTL. Best case scenario is Seattle takes him in expansion draft along with our 2021 first round pick. He wants to be in the playoffs and based on last expansion draft he could get his wish. Beyond that he is a BC boy and gets him closer to home. Getter done!!
With all these injuries, Habs season toast, so lets give ourselves the best possible lotto pick for Lafreniere.
