I currently project the following active players as Hockey Hall of Famers. Please note that I only considered players that would qualify if they retired today. For example, Austin Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon may very well end up among the all-time greats, but they're not there yet

Here they are:

1. Patrice Bergeron
2. Marc-Andre Fleury
3. Alex Ovechkin
4. Nicklas Backstrom
5. Patrick Kane
6. Jonathan Toews
7. Duncan Keith
8. Sidney Crosby
9. Evgeni Malkin
10. Connor McDavid
11. Joe Thornton
12. Erik Karlsson
13. Justin Williams
14. Ryan Getzlaf
15. Henrik Lundqvist
16. Jonathan Quick

I left off the following close calls:

1. Drew Doughty
2. Sergei Bobrovsky
3. Patrick Marleau
4. Eric Staal
5. Steven Stamkos
6. Nikita Kucherov
7. Braden Holtby

Playoff success is a huge factor in determining HOF status. Who did I forget? Let me know.

Does Lundqvist get in? Wouldn't say he's a sure thing.

Kucherov is probably in the same boat as Mackinnon its way too soon to tell.

Lundquvist's international play pushes him over the finish line in my opinion.
