If you remove the condition and make it a second round pick, the trade makes more sense for Ottawa.

Also is DeMelo a rental in the grand scheme of things? Just curious in your thinking long term on Calgary.

Not really sure why we would need JGP unless we are moving Lindholm back to the wing. Between Backlund, Ryan, Jankowski, Bennett and other players coming up the last thing Flames need is a 3C

Backlund has been better on the wing then at 2C, he said himself that as a top 6 center the responsibility was wearing at him. He would be perfectly fine at 3C where he can play much more of a shutdown role
