Oh boy. Good luck, common knowledge hockey fans are on their way to destroy you. Klefbom is Edmonton's top defenceman

This is ridiculous, we are not trading our number 1 D and also why, to lose one of those guys to Seattle.

Every time I see a Nurse trade, I see many posts from Oiler fans saying Nurse is the best defenceman. I agree it's klefbom.

There is a kernel of sense in this trade. Assume (God forbid) a season-ending injury to Matthews, Tavares or Andersen. Now you can practically guarantee a first-round exit, so you make this trade. After the end-of-elimination-game handshake, you say goodbye to Jake Muzzin and presto! You have a left side of Rielly, Klefbom and Dermott, who plays with Holl. Now all you have to do is find two GOOD right-handed defensemen and you're a favorite for the Stanley Cup.

Any other scenario, this is insane.

And I'm only looking at it from Toronto's perspective. How this helps Edmonton significantly, I have no idea.

I'm not for or against this trade. What I will say is Edmonton's wingers just aren't very good from the few games I've watched of theirs. Kapanen and Johnsson are definite upgrades on the wings.

From a Leafs perspective, losing one of Kapanen or Johnsson is acceptable but both? No thanks.

Agree completely with you about Edmonton's wingers and how much an upgrade Johnsson and Kapanen would be for them.

But at the cost of Klefbom and his talent and great contract, including term? No way.

Sandin is going to be on the squad next year and looks terrific. Liljegren is having a great year with the farm and will be there too. They need 1 more defenceman and they are set and could very well be better than most people think.
