KHL West

Created by: BLIvingston33
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2020
Published: Jan. 11, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bring over Grigorenko to play with Kaprizov. (Don't get caught up on him being the number one center, just switch the Staal line to first line if you want). Gusev is expansion exempt, a right-handed shot and also friends with Kaprizov. For expansion you'd protect Grigorenko, Zucker, Parise, Zuccarello, Donato, Greenway, Kunin, Suter, Spurgeon, Dumba, Kahkonen. Or try to get Suter to waive and protect Soucy, no chance Seattle would actually take Suter anyway.

KHL kicked around this idea in 2012 even reaching out to a few potential owners before their ESPN deal fell through and killed their ability to broadcast it .

They've re-structured in 2015 and since have been expanding steadily pushing the vision of a true Global League where the best can play the best .
it may not happy this year or this decade but it will happen in our life times for sure .

one can only hope its sooner then later as they havent perverted the rules to make the game faster and its angled at real hockey fans.
NHL panders to much to the ADD crowd trying to change the game to make more attractive to them at the Hockey Fans expense .

KHL is growing it the right way based upon Hockey fans backs without perverting the game and working side by side with the IIHF while the NHL has a pissing match .
I imagine if they do expand Mnnisota would be a key market to capture in their original expansion due to the passionate fans in the state . (they are to Hockey as Alabama is to College Footbal)

This is just a potential Minnesota Wild roster for next season, not an actual KHL team in Minnesota.

Gusev wouldn't be expansion exempt, he'll have 2 pro seasons already at the end of this year because Vegas burned his first year at the end of last season just to get him over. I'd rather keep Fiala anyhow.

He's exempt according to the expansion draft simulator

That simulates if the draft was held today, which he currently would be exempt until he completes his second year.

Then why is Makar not exempt for Colorado on the simulator?

Fiala and Foligno are both worth more than what you have traded them for here.

Good question for CapFriendly. Sturm is eligible to be drafted, despite being in the same situation as Gusev. Gusev will be a UFA right after the draft anyhow, so he'd be free to go anywhere after the draft.

They aren't in the same situation. Vegas burned a contract year, but Gusev didn't play. Sturm played the last 2 games of last season so he will have played in 3 North American pro seasons whereas Gusev will only have played in 2 at the time of the draft.
