Toffoli if the Sharks Put Together a Nice Win Streak

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 12, 2020
Published: Jan. 12, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Additionally might give Tyler a first look to stay in Cali and sign long-term with the Sharks.

A Rob Blake managed LA team will be much more open to the idea of trading an expiring contract within the division, as long as it's fair value, given his past connection to SJ and more importantly him would like having to see Patty and Jumbo win a cup.

"As long as it's a fair value". Yeah, that's nowhere near fair value, especially for in-division trading. Change the 3rd to a 2nd this year, and then add your 4th rounder next year with the condition that if he resigns with San Jose it becomes a 1st.

Doubt LA cares that much, they won’t be in the picture for another 2-3

What? That is one of the worst thought processes I've seen on this site.

They aren't going to just hand over a 20+ goal scorer in his prime years to a divisional rival for some change. The asking price for Toffoli on the market as of last week was a 2nd and a prospect. The Kings don't want to keep him in the division and help a team they loathe, so the Sharks would have to overpay, hence the second pick. And if he resigns, it's worth a 1st rounder so that's where the condition comes in.

I'm not saying the Sharks should do it. From an unbiased standpoint, the last thing the Sharks should be doing is trading away picks. But from a biased view, I hate that team so I would love it if they did. But that's going to be the asking price for Toffoli if they want him, because the Kings will easily get something better than your original offer from another team.

I mean maybe, but Chemelevski is not a slouch of a prospect, hes probably the sharks second or third best

Toffoli to San Jose would cost Chmelevski and a 2021 2nd, which conditionally increases to a 1st if Toffoli re-signs.

San Jose shouldn't be trading away draft picks and futures for rentals, as they're only a season or two away from a rebuild themselves.

I see I just said an abbreviated version of what you did.
Should have read all the comments first. Good work.

I think the kings could shock some people next year. I definitely don’t think it will take 3 years. This team is a very different team from last year. They have an occasional flop of a game, but they are routinely out shooting opponents and playing very well. Last year I could hardly make it thru a entire game. Just boring, couldn’t score, barely could get the puck in the zone! They are a so much better this year. I think next year they will at least fight for a spot. Maybe be just outside the playoffs but I think they could very well make it too
