Can’t imagine we’d move him, he’s still young and under a good deal. Could very well still be here when they’re good again.

This deal is admittedly a bit of an overpayment though. I’d be happy with a package like Johansen and a 2nd or 3rd, maybe throw in Gudas to compensate for the cap hits.

I'd disagree with Forsberg on value for murphy. He's probably been our best dman and with seabrooks injury for who knows how long Murphy will probably be the only RHD that has more experience beyond 1 season next year. So youd probably have to pay some absurd amount that wouldn't make much sense.

So my posted amount is too low?

If this is what it takes for Murphy I wish Chevy would throw together a similar package and get it done, he'd be a great D partner for Morrissey.

I honestly have no idea. 2 prospects a roster player and a 1st seemed fair to me

Idk, it’s just that defensive defensemen typically don’t go for that much. I guess Murphy facilitates some offense but that’s not what we have him for.

Maybe we’d get back a little more than what I said, but I just can’t imagine we get a top-4 d prospect and a first round pick

It is more then fair but Hawks need Murphy for the next couple years.

I wasn’t sure if the hawk were going for picks and a quick rebuild or what. Makes sense that you wouldn’t trade a high end player if you’re trying to compete

Well it’s more of a retool on the fly. We have two very good prospects on our right in Mitchell and Boqvist so with Seabs injured and may retire, we need Murphy while we retool.

No I think you gave quite a lot but the Hawks need Murphy more imo.

Murphy has progressed into a strong reliable defender for the Hawks. It is finally nice to see his skill set appreciated by people here. I think if a GM were to offer a 1st (especially if it were offer this year) it would be hard not to pass up. This deal is probably a bit off an overpayment, as when you think of a defenceman that covets a 1st, it is mostly offered to a defenceman who has offensive skills.

I can’t say Murphy is that type of defenceman, but he has shown flashes of offence, and looks comfortable on the blueline making plays, and occasionally going deep in the offensive zone.

The drawback to trading Murphy, is he does consistency fill a hole. As it stands, I don’t see anyone who would fill the vacancy.

1st wouldn’t be bad but we would also ask you to take Jensen.
