I disagree, colorado has a goalie that's playing better for cheaper, and Gallagher is a nice upgrade but you are losing you best PK dman and most defensive dman in a playoff run. Carey prices contract is enough to say no immediately because they wouldnt be able to keep both their captain and their star dman after next season

I feel your concern. But Avs D is also much superior to MTL's. Even Francouz is putting up good numbers, so there's an argument to be made there. As for the contracts to Mac and Mak, that's something that will need to be addressed when the time comes if this trade does happen. You could buy out EJ's last year if you want. Kadri will be off the books, so will Gallagher if they choose not to resign them. The cap will go up also. I imagine every team will be awarded at least 1 compliance buy-out in the next CBA and you can use it on Price if you wish to. Perhaps by then you guys will have 2 cups .
