Colorado decline. Grubauer is better than Price, why downgrade and take a worse contract......Worst contract in NHL

2 seasons ago? he absolutely was not a vezina finalist. He has not been a legit vezina trophy finalist since 2016-2017.

Can Avs stop as well this offer is terrible for Mtl . We don't want Carey Price out and espicially to Colorado ! Grubauer only play for a good team , Wsh got rid of Brooks (fck,) Orpik on the trade and only receive Colorado 2nd rounder ! Grubauer is meh . Price is top goalie in NHL , not his best year but still . Btw Renaud Lavoie journalist and virtually the unofficial relationist of CH ,said there was NO chance Price is on the move , the team haven't even consider the option .

Price is not the best goalie or a top goalie in the league anymore. He's not just having "a down year", he's on his 3rd down year now, and 2 out of 3 have been garbage There's a serious anchoring effect with the value of price. Out of the goalies over the last 2.5 seasons with over 2000 minutes TOI (52 goalies)

Price ranks 22nd in SV% (0.9115) - Grub is 15th at (0.9134)

now obviously there's a huge team element there, because grub has been on good teams, so if you take a look at their performance against expectations, which attempts to isolate goalie results from their team's performance, the picture continues to show price has not been good. Expectations look at the difficulty of each save and compare it to the expected save % for that situation, and price has been below average.

Price ranks 33rd in dSV% at -0.25% below xSV% Grub is 24th at 0.08 above xSV% (dSV% = SV% - xSV% - aka difference between SV% and what they are expected to stop).

Price ranks 37th in Goals Saved Above Average at -7.46 GSAA while Grubauer is at 24th with a +1.51 GSAA

So Grub roughly meets expectations of a goalie in his situation, while price has been below average for a goalie in his situation. Even last year when price had a decent year, he still had a very average dSV% and GSAA both coming in around 0 (meets expectations). It's been a couple years since price has been a top goalie. He's 32, the decline will just continue, he might get a blip season in there, but the trend wont be much better over the next 6.5 years of that contract.

Fell free to back up your thoughts with some stats or something, instead of just saying he's a top goalie.

Erik Karlsson was a 2 Time Norris trophy winner and lead the Sens to the Game 7 Double OT on ONE FOOT.
Jonathan Toews & Brent Seabrook are 3 time Stanley Cup Champion.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic is(was) considered on the best defensive d-man.
Bobby Ryan was a very good player when he was in Anaheim.
Sergei Bobrovsky is a 2 Time Vezina trophy winner.

Would you give up any of your A+ prospects (No salary retention) and additional picks to get any of the players I previously mentioned?

Price was paid to be the difference-maker at 10.5M. The Habs were supposed to be bottom feeder if Price got injured. Now they have been bottom feeder for the last couple years even though Price was still in the lineup for the whole/majority season. (Let say from 2017-18 to the current season). Sure Price can have some good games(months if you consider that Price got his **** together last season because Habs barely missed the playoffs) but having "roller coaster" performance doesn't justify that 10.5 M contract

Quotes an NHLPA poll statistic. Proceeds to say statistics mean nothing . Good argument.

is that yogi berra quote made up?

nhlpa poll is not a statistic . They ask the players to put the name of the best goalie to THEIR EYES . Now for the last 2 years (in a row) , Price have been named the best goalie by his peers . You can fire back your stats that proves that Grubauer is better than Price , Marcus Aurelius .

poll results are literally a statistic based on the opinions of a population.

I don't have the number in front of me , from memory it's 30 to 40% of all NHLPA that think that Price is the best .

Yeah 30 to 40% is still one of those pesky useless statistics you were talking about. Better not talk about stats, they can provide information, and we wouldn't want to make informed decisions now would we?

not an A plus prospect, but at least a B level prospect. age and contract is a factor in all those guys.

funny, he was still 7th in vezina votingt his past season despite having just an average season, 17-18 he was injured, and the season before he was in the top 3. yeah 10.5 mill is a lot, but thats the price thye had to pay for a franchise goalie in mtl. he would have made more on the market. so now please admit in front of everyone that an arm chair gm knows more about a player than a current nhl player, leageu exec, coach etc. i mean u must have made the nhl, played against price and said, yeah he's not good anymore. if u have done that, i'll accept everything that you say, if u haven't, than ur stats are great, but they're useless. there's a reason players have to admit that he is the best goalie in the league. yeah he's having a bad season, but even his average seasons puts him top 3 in vezina voting (2017). future goalies, and goalie coaches look at him and model thier game after him. not fredrick andersen or whoever colorado's goalie is
