Crow won't sign with another team for $1.5M; simply not worth it. Leafs should make a trade for him now if they any attention of signing him for next year; the Leafs could obviously use Crow this year anyway.

This is a gross exaggeration... Pesce is great defensively, but isn't the best defenseman on Carolina (Gardiner is the worst )
Parayko on the other hand is having an off season defensively, while also not producing as much as years prior (barely missing the pace he set last year (28 points - 82 games).

I agree that the Leafs need defenseman that can play sound defensive hockey. That isn't all that they need though. The Leafs need players that play a 60 minute game, that have the drive to play. Having Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares play to 30% of their capability isn't getting it done for the Leafs. Neither is the defenseman/forwards not being positionally sound.

Do I think Kappy + Bracco is fair for Pesce, god no, but there is no way its Marner+ going back the other way. I think a fair deal would be Nylander (provides offense for the Canes, not great defensively) for Pesce (sound defensively - for the most part - lacks offensive production, good compliment for Reilly/Dermott) +prospect (either LHD or C - with Necas being way too expensive)

Hawks aren't going to bring him back if they pay Lehner and he stays which is the intent, they simply can't afford to pay Lehner ($7M to $8M) and also Crow who will cost at least $2M if not $3M to continue playing is my guess. That said, if Crow agrees to waive in a TDL move this year, Hawks are pretty much out of the playoff race, I could see him going to a team like the Leafs to take another shot at a ring the next couple years prior to retiring.

As a pens fan, do you think that Guentzel could nab a top pairing defenseman?

My line of think was that they would move parayko to clear room for Pietrangelo plus they would be getting a top Rd prospect back. Sending them Nylander wouldn't create cap room for them

i dont think thye would move parayko for pieteragenlo. look at the age and contract difference. they'll make a run and let him walk in FA. thats why they traded for faulk. plus dunn is getting better and better. thye need space for him in the top 4 too

Guentzel will because he’s a 40 goal 80-90 point guy and he’s making only 6 million dollars a year. Marner ability wise should easily fetch you an elite top pairing defenseman but his contract deflated his value.
