2020 off-season

Created by: staytru20
Team: 2020-21 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 14, 2020
Published: Jan. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This lineup gives a bit of flexibility to bring up a prospect forward for third line duties if they're ready during the season or out of camp. You can put Panik on the 3LW, move Hagelin to the 4LW.

Moving out Jensen and putting Siegenthaler (who can play RD) in his spot balances out the pairings. Orlov can use a more defensively sound partner to generate more offense.

Why hasn't Djoos fit with WSH? Just looking at his stats, he's done very well in the AHL and he did fine in his first two (limited) seasons with WSH. What's the deal with him?

Orlov has really had a good year so far. Last night not so much. Jensen was actually good last night...

He had a pretty bad injury last year which kept him out for many months. Since he couldn't be counted on health wise he ended up in Hershey BUT he also won his salary in ARB which was a few hundred thousand higher than the team was expecting and with the Caps cap issue this year, he really couldn't be kept up with the big team anyway. This is probably his last year with the team I would think...

I'm sure the Preds would take a flyer on him if it only costs a 5th - they need a new LD on the bottom pair anyway, so he could take over that spot for Hamhuis after this season. Either way, it would create some competition for that bottom pairing D.

He is good. He is smooth with good hands and can make the first pass. He got exposed though by Carolina's ferocious fore check last playoffs so if you play any teams like that, he needs to keep his head on a swivel...wink

Don't expect him to get involved offensively either. Dude has 94 shots in 110 games in the NHL so far in his career. Most of his point generation is due to his great first pass skills.
