Blues 2020-21 moves

Description
What would be a good package for Schwartz this summer? It seems like it will be tough to manage extensions for both Petro AND Schwartz, so if Petro signs it might be time to move him for something.

Disclaimer: Schwartz is probably my top 3 favorite players on the team so I don't wanna hear about how we shouldn't trade him - this is for discussion.

if this is done at next years deadline then its the same as any other aove average rental - 1st, young player and prospect

if it is done at draft or before season it would be more, or a 1 for 1 swap with a similar aged player.

I would sell high on Perron instead of Schwartz tbh, this season isn’t all that impressive when you dig deeper. He leads the forwards in 5v5 ice time and yet has less 5v5 points than Barbashev. In fact, Thomas has almost 200 less minutes and has 7 more points. If he puts up a point per game season, there’ll be some GM that offers a first round pick plus.

I'd prefer that. Then what would Schwartz's extension look like? 7 x 6.5? Does that work long-term?

I would think they might be able to get it a bit cheaper and shorter. Either way, I get the feeling that he might walk next summer given the Schenn contract and the potential contracts we will give to Thomas/Binnington/Pietrangelo. I won’t exactly be pleased if they did in fact choose Schenn over Schwartz. I haven’t been all that impressed with Schenn this season and he’s got 8 more years.

My question to the Perron proposal revolves around how important he is viewed within the locker room by management. The Frenchie just seems to ooze "St. Louis" in public. At least this year, he's been a P.R. boon for the club, and when revenue is involved, upper managers consider that kind of stuff in addition to his 5 v 5 numbers. I agree with you though. If he gets to 40 goals this year (which is quite possible), I think the Note could flip him for a first plus another strong asset. There are a ton of teams that need right handed wingers with talent.

I think a team like Edmonton would salivate at the chance to put Schwartz on McDavid's wing. Perhaps the Blues could take the Oil to the cleaners??
