Habs need to tank FAST

Created by: RemiLavoie
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 14, 2020

Description
Habs get a new management team this off-season who see that the team is going nowhere but mediocrity so they decide to undergo a full rebuild, keeping just the valuable young players and overpriced veterans, while letting the kids play.
With the firsts added in the Petry and Tatar trades, as well as their own first and Primeau, the Habs somehow make a move to get Lafreniere (use your imagination).

Lehkonen and Armia both shouldn't be traded. They both aren't even in their Primes yet and it makes no sense to trade them.

I'd rather we get a 1st + other picks over POJ. Doesn't have to be from Pittsburgh.

Fairly confident that the Jets say yes. They need help on D, especially on the right side, and they need cap space. So they clear Bryan Little's contract while adding Petry with about 40% retention, it's a no-brainer for them.

I don't think that the Pens are that high on Joseph, and the first will be in the late 20s. Tatar is having a great year, and would fit in well with the Pens top 6. Their window is closing, they need to win in the next 2-4 years.

Watching nearly every Habs game, I'm not that high on them as most of the fanbase. I like Armia's puck protection a lot, but he doesn't offer than much offensively and as hard as Lehkonen works, I don't see the offensive upside. When you look at the rest of the top 9 in the hypothetical tank, there's no room for them anywhere other than the 4th line - I think that they'd be more valuable elsewhere.

Not really they have good d prospects and little probably gonna end up on ltir while giving up their 2 first picks in a very good draft no chance

they're best on 3rd line, but trading them for nothing much isn't the right move.... both are excellent on the PK and support roles/wingers

Habs will not land Lafreniere ... you plan a tank plan before the season starts, not halfway through.

It's a hypothetical situation where the picks that the Habs land for Tatar and Petry as well as their own pick is used to make a move for 1st overall or something like that. This is just how I want it to play out, not how I 100% think it would.

Completely disagree, I like Teasdale's game a lot. Before his injury, he was going to be a middle-six player for Laval and I don't think that changes next year. Give it a couple of seasons and he'll be on the Habs fourth line, they love to cycle through AHL wingers.

The Jets need help on D rn, not in a few years IF those prospects pan out. Out of the likes of Heinola, Stanley and Samburg and such, I only think Heinola can be considered a very good prospect. Let's face it, the Jets are serious contenders if they improve on D and Petry is massively underrated.

Right but like I said, in my version of this playing out, there's no room for them in the lineup except on the fourth line where they're too good to be. Look at it rn, I don't think you can take anyone out for them.

They aren’t serious contenders tho I don’t even think they make the playoffs this year yes petry helps our d but not that much to where we would be serious contenders
