If I'm mtl I'm taking Barron ... Gotta ton of young deadly fwds already ...make the defence the same ...Romanov Brooks and Barron in the pipeline ...not too shabby ...but hard to pass on lundell ...might be the sleeper of the draft

If this is the options, I think we would go with Lundell easily. Perhaps even trade back because I don't see much of a difference between 9 and 15.

If MTL ends up with the 5-6 oa and that both Raymond and Drysdale are available, whats your pick

Tough one, I choose Drysdale based off of need, I believe both will become future top end talent in the NHL.

Drysdale, him and Romanov would make a formidable pairing for the next decade

You're dreaming if you think Raymond's there. Drysdale might be there at 5th but I doubt he goes out of the top five.

If they end up with 10 OA id be looking to move down a spot or two, have enough young forwards and one of the Barron or Schneider will still be available. Unless one of them picks it up the 2nd half and becomes a stand out

Personally I would draft Raymond. He is dynamic. Need is for the Dman maybe, but the better player in my eyes is Raymond

No. Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle, Rossi or Lundell could all be chose before him. Depending on teams needs

Askarov will go wayy before MTL gets to pick if they are 8/10/11. Askarov is currently ranked by HockeyProspect as the #3 player in the draft.

I think he took a step back at the World Junior and Stutzle and Rossi are just climbing

Lundell will never be a 1st line center so Lafreniere Byfield Raymond Stutzle Rossi Drysdale Askarov Holtz will all go before him since they have better potential

Maybe. Even though his ceiling might not be as high as those guys, his floor on the other hand is way higher (except for Laffy). To me he's a lock 60 pts two way center. That's what he'll become. He might also be a 70pts player. If he's available at 9, 10, 11 and that any of those big top 8 guys are there, he's MTL guy

Also no. Those rankings haven't been updated in a few months, and nobody is going to draft a goalie that high. It's just stupid. There's been too many times where it hasn't panned out, and goalies in today's NHL can come out of nowhere. Why waste a top ten pick when you can draft a goalie in the 3rd or 4th round and still become a solid NHL starter. I think Askarov's range is right in that 8/9/10 range, but wouldn't be surprised if he fell lower. I would, however, be surprised if he was picked much higher.

Multiple scouting sites have said with extreme confidence that Askarov is the next Generation goaltender & their has not been a Goaltender this good in a draft since Carey Price. Whom i would say worked out pretty well for MTL.

Per HockeyWrites Craig Button https://thehockeywriters.com/new-goaltenders-led-by-yaroslav-askarov/

"Askarov is no ordinary goaltending prospect. TSN Director of Scouting, Craig Button, believes that the netminder, among others, could challenge Alexis Lafreniere for the number one spot come draft day in June 2020. With all of the talent in the draft, I think that it will be difficult for Askarov to go first overall, but he’s definitely a top-10, possibly top-five, pick."

Another site i am not to familiar with calling him potentially the best Russian Goalie prospect ever https://www.beerleagueheroes.com/2020-nhl-draft-profile-yaroslav-askarov-the-best-russian-goalie-prospect-ever/

Another site calling him better than Spencer Knight (WHom went 13th in 2019) and again praising him. https://puckprose.com/2019/08/03/2020-nhl-draft-prospect-jan-mysak-outshines-jaromir-jagr/

I have no doubt he's an outstanding goaltender prospect, and is going to be a star goalie in the league for a long time. I still think it's pretty reasonable to think he's available at 8-10. There is still few teams I could see drafting him in the top five. This draft is too deep. Again, it's nothing on Askarov, it's just why use a top five/top ten pick when you can draft a few goalies in the later rounds, and let them develop into great starters. Binnington, Shesterkin, there's literally too many to name. And Button's high if he thinks he's challenging Lafreniere for 1OA. That was written back before the season started though, I'm sure he wouldn't say that now. Maybe if he had a stronger world juniors, he could be solidified in that mid top ten range, but I think 8-9-10 is right where he will go. Just my opinion.
