So, tell us what is NTC Gourde's motivation to leave Cup contending Tampa for Ottawa.

Tampa could say it's that or Syracuse.

I suggested this earlier today as a joke. I don't care much for Zaitsev, but I'd rather just keep him. The sens RD prospects are still a couple years away, so they still have need of his services short term. After that he becomes easier to move with only a couple of years left, and he can just sit if need be.

Or rather the team that would pick him up from waivers. He's not going AHL.

Who is picking up that deal on Waivers? Who can afford to add a 5mil 3rd/4th liner without sending money back?

He's 2nd line to mid-6 winger in basically any other team than super deep TB... Even for a 4th liner, 19 points in 45 games isn't too bad. Can't think of any other 4th liners in the league with those stats.

It's more than likely he'll be left exposed at the expansion draft. This will make room for JBD or Thompson to make an impact.

Then why did you make it? Knowing full well he'd never waive for Ottawa.

Since when is a player who has 2 48 point season and a 64 point season a 3rd/4th liner? Perhaps in Tampa but not anywhere else. Detroit could easily accommodate his $5 million salary pretty easily.

Get real Gourde would never clear waivers, So Syracuse isn't an option. Detroit would easily claim him and have the 1st dibs on him. He's a favorite of Yzerman you know.

I think Yanni Gourde is a passenger player, and I think if you're paying a guy 5mil for 5 more seasons, he needs to be able to drive results on a line. I don't think he plays well when he's away from guys like Point, Stammer and Kuch.

I would not claim him if he went on Waivers. I think that kind of money can be better spent elsewhere.
