If anything, Maatta probably gets bought out and Smith gets traded but yeah not much internal moving going on. Also wouldn't be surprised if Shaw gets moved or sent to the minors or something, dude might even be done with hockey after this concussion with his history of head trauma

What is up with Seabrook? I believe he recently had shoulder surgery plus he has hip issues as well. Is it possible he may also be done? If he is able to return, imo he is that 6-7 dman at $6.9M/. I doubt he retires and forfeits the remainder of his contract, and he certainly isn't going to be moved.

Smith and Maatta are the obvious candidates to be moved out. After that, I think Saad would be the next to go. I’m a big Saad fan and I’d like to see him re-signed, but I don’t see it happening. Shaw could be moved, but it’s more like he stays or retires.

Seabrook sticks around as a 3rd pairing d-man (albeit an expensive one) and I’m good with that.

Yeah wpg will have to decline this. I’m sorry but I don’t think anyone’s going to want to take maata. I get his buyout is cheap but still, why would a team want to give up anything to get him. Just doesn’t make sense, he’ll most likely just get bought out. Will be interesting to see if Seabrook is able to play after these surgeries. Oh man what a relief it would be if he heads to LTIR for good.

I hear you and you may be right. However there are teams, like Winnipeg, who’ll need defense next season. The Jets have Pionk and Morrissey, that’s pretty much it. Maybe Ottawa acquires Maatta, they could use him. I think for a draft pick maybe somebody takes a chance.

I'd like to hope he isn't done yet. As much as his contract sucks he was as much of a contributor to our 3 cups as much as anybody else and having him go out this way just doesn't feel right. Word is he will try to be ready for next season but I don't know how much I buy into that.

Maatta isn't entirely useless, you just need to shelter him. A team would probably bite for a 5th or 6th but not anything more than that

Jets need defense now, not next season. But maata is like last resort. There are better options out there. They’re not gonna make any trades though. Buff probably ends up returning February. Also for next year, we have Samberg, Stanley, Heinola, Chisholm, Nogier that will all be fighting for spots and are good enough to make the team. They’re not going to be in a dire need for dman next year.
