Wow - very surprising. I think an offense first team like this would do better with Laviolette, but they really should've given Gallant more of a chance - sheesh. The guy brought them to the cup finals just two years ago. Sure, they aren't playing great right now but he's done so well for that team and making hockey a big hit in the city that they should've given him at least this year to turn it around.

I think that is bad move in season when the team isn't playing badly per se and still more than likely playoff bound. Below expectations, sure but it doesn't matter what position you get in, its what you do when you are there and they've been pretty darn decent so far in their history.

Of all the firings and hires this year, this one is a real head scratcher

They currently dropped out of the wildcard but just on games played and they are 4-6 I n their last 10 but I love Gallant

Here's hoping that Yzerman brings our boy home this summer, Always been a fan favorite of Gerard Gallant in his Detroit days.
