The trades aren't bad the problem is Chicago needs more true top 4 D man not more top 6 forwards.

Where is Ian Mitchell? He is playing next year 100% so no need to sign Polak.

Dzingel is a noticeable downgrade from Saad, much rather have Saad and Haydn Fleury probably isn't necessary given Beaudin, Gilbert and even Carlsson should play.

If you cancel out that Carolina trade and keep Nylander or Sikura removing Buchnevich, we can have Saad and Sikura or Nylander still. Dzingel is a rental, his value isn't great right now given him mediocre play (on pace for only 14 goals).

The top line should be Kane; that second line has pretty much zero defense, that's not a good idea to roll a forward line without at least 1 defensive forward on the line. Hence where Saad or Dach comes in on that 2nd line. Hoffman isn't great defensively either.

we may have to move saad to be able to pay kubalik this offseason. Unless Seabrook is gonna be on LTIR all year or something we might not have the money to keep him and saad is more expendable with how well kubalik is playing as of late. I would love to keep him too but it might make sense to package him with one of our defencemen for a true top 4 dman

You know would fit perfect there? Connor Brown, excellent defense, very consistent, really high drive.
    Kubalik-Toews-Kane
    Debrincat-Strome-Brown
    Dach-Saad

Find a talented winger for that 3rd line with Dach and Saad

Yeah but trading Saad to take on Dzingel and Buchnevich I don't get as Saad is clearly a top 6 and the other two middle 6 players. With guys like Sikura, Nylander, Kurashev, Hagel, Highmore, Dach, Kampf, Carpentar, etc. we have plenty of middle 6/bottom 6 guys to fill in the gap.

Agreed. That is why I mentioned trying to move him with a d prospect for a bonafide top 4 dman

Trade Gus, no need to trade Saad unless we are getting a 1st and prospect in return (will accept 1m retained).
