Mike Green is Tyson Barrie level bad when it comes to playing defensively. Ceci is better than him.

Thats what I thought but I saw a trade on the Trade Machine earlier and thought I would develop the trade and team look.

Does Toronto really need ANOTHER offensive defenceman?

Mike Green offers no defensive support whatsoever. As last night's game clearly demonstrated, even with some terrible defensive play, the Leafs' offense is good enough to win them games. So while Mike Green may be a more than adequate offensive defenseman, he really is not a good fit with this club.

The Penguins had a number of offensive defensemen on those cup teams, didn’t they?

I wonder how long it will take for the average fan to understand the difference between an old school stay at home defenceman and a new age two way defensive defenceman. I am not saying Mike Green is a good two way guy, I am not sure he is. However, the mentality that TO needs some big, stay at home physical guy because you can't win without one is so off base in this era that it shocks me so many people still call for one. Every team would happily have 6 two way defenceman. Guys who can skate very well, make very good passes and handle the puck and push it up ice. Its such a fluid game in this day and age and if you can't skate and handle the puck, you can't really do anything. Go after guys who are sound defensively and can keep the puck in the hands of your team. When you have the puck all the time, you can't get scored on.

I remember once upon a time Green was amongst the favorites to win the Norris but now he brings nothing.

Exactly. Toronto has too many finesse defenders.

Like who? Schultzy is the only guy I think who can be deemed an OFD, but during that cup run he really cemented himself as a TWD is my opinion, with better upside of course offensively.
Daley is a great TWD, Hainsey is the furthest thing from an OFD (other than that beauty he scored against Nashville lol)
Dumo is a DFD first TWD second
Maatta is a TWD with more upside in the Ozone in my opinion
Streit in 2016-17 is definitely a OFD but he played 3 games.
