1. NYR isn't going to trade a young goalie with starter potential for an old washed-up backup goalie. Especially when they would still have The King and that new goalie prospect. (I forgot his name)
2. Saad has been the Hawks best player when he's healthy
3. Hawks don't need more defensive prospects or players
4. If the TOR trade were to happen, it would most likely be for Kubalik not Saad
5. Gus really has limited value. He's bad defensively and hasn't been great offensively. He has to go but it'll most likely be for a second round pick and maybe a 4th added on.

Toronto does not need to add another winger to their team. They need defenceman, and with their top two LHD injured, they aren't trading Dermott. Johnsson is a possibility, but if he's being moved it's almost surely as part of a trade for a defenceman. Maybe there's a trade to be made for Murphy if you want to move him, but I just don't see Saad providing value for Toronto.

Disagree in part of what you're saying. Toronto's problem is not only getting better defenders but getting a top 6 guy that knows how to play defensive as a forward. If you watch the Toronto games, so many of their forwards are simply not good defensively. The best balanced teams are teams that deploy at least 1 if not 2 forwards in the top 6 that play good defense...Toronto lacks that.

Terrible trade for NYR.

Terrible TOR trade for the Hawks. Johnsson is a weaker version of Saad and we have Ian Mitchell coming up next year on the right defensive side so that's Mitchell, Murphy, Boqvist and Seabs....hawks dont need a right D guy. If anything they need a better left handed D guy to either play the #1 slot or #3 slot over Keith or Gilbert. That said, Toronto isn't moving one of their D guys as they have to sign 4 already in the offseason.

Gus is not worth a 1st, he's worth a 2nd at this point.

This

And homers are still comparing Matthews with Ovechkin.....only people that hasnt stand in the ring ( or any other combat sport surface ) for at least once in a lifetime arent awared how much energy is burned by hitting and rushing back to help your blueline......while the "Best of them All" is chilling on the Point with his stick triggered and waiting for someone to pass just to boost his Stats ( which still wont be anywhere near 90 at 5 x 11,634M )

NYR aren't in the market for a goalie, we lose out on the TOR trade and Gus is not going to be getting us a 1st.

All 3 of the players you traded out are likely candidates just the returns aren't right IMO.

On the right track in terms of outgoings and Saad only if we get the right offer.
