Your description of Brendan Dillon is absolutely hilarious.

Have you kept up with insider reports? Calling him highly sought after is based on the "is a player many teams would like to aquire".

Crude post. Again, something I wish I had the possibility to downvote.

You are right that Dillon is grossly overvalued here. Is worth a 2nd at most... there's nicer ways to word things mate...

The first is the main part of the deal, without it theres no point in it for the sharks.

ehh kinda horvat comparable - can play it but not an elite top liner. Hertl is too good to be overlooked though

Its really never wise to answer lowballed offers with equally unrealistic counter offers. A 2nd and Bracco for a bottom pair defender is silly. As is a 3rd for a backup that is not at all an upgrade over the guy they currently have.

Well, not for the first time, I find myself plowing my own lonely furrow . . . with the exception of Dell (whom I believe to be worth only a fifth), I think these are fair values for players of proven quality. Some, of course, have proven worth more quality than others, but these are realistic examples of fair trades, in my opinion, without opining on whether the particular proposed partner needs that kind of player.

Full disclosure: as an Anaheim/Kings fan, you can imagine that one of my least favorite teams is San Jose, so no one should accuse me of bias. I would LOVE to see Couture and Hertl in particular go somewhere else and stop torturing us.

I think a 3rd is a bit much for Dell. Might be able to find a desperate enough team to pay that, but i doubt it. 4th maybe even a 5th is the likelihood there. However, I think you kind of undervalued Hertl and Labanc. I think they could get more. Hertl’s contract is at the low point of a 2nd liner would make. And he can be good for a team that needs a 2C that’s capable of stepping into the 1C role when the 1C goes down.

Thank you good sir! Nice to see some reasonable people on here, even if its the last fan I would expect to be.

I actually agree, I think we could probably get another asset in the deal, but most dont like to trade top prospects on here.

This sIte is much more fun if you try to be honest and realistic about your own team, at least, as well as others about which, by definition, you know less. But I know San Jose all too well.

I have a personal interest in hoping that the SoCal teams do better than the Sharks over the rest of the year: back in the off-season, @Jangle29 told me that if I thought Anaheim was anything better than the 3rd worst team in the West, I was delusional. I told him we would be better than the third worst in the Pacific Division.

Mittelstadt, d-prospect (not Borgen, Johnson, or Samuelsson) and first is top 10 protected.

Thats a no, and actually one of the biggest reasons I made this, because that Hertl offer is made 10 times a day and is not enough.

Thing about Dell... rental goalies never get much of a return. Dell isn't on a cheap contract in that some teams would have to make other cap moves to bring him in opposed to Stalock etc.

Comparable situations:
- Kinkaid last year; was taking the starter job and putting up decent numbers like Dell, still only got a 5th and thats 2 years from now
- Kuemper two years ago. Despite being on more term and playing really good, he was swapped for a late pick and a struggling Tobias Rieder.

Unfortunately the market isn't there (i'd say the same even if he was half retained) Expect a 4th at most for Dell.

Couture, Meier and Hertl are franchise cornerstones. They wont be moving. Labanc, Sorensen and Dillon are the largest sellingpoints that are ALSO realistic on the sharks.

Most of the people on here are extremely unrealistic. When Guentzel went down everybody had the pens trading the moon for Saad. Even though everyone knew Crosby was coming back soon. Same with Bjugstad being back soon. And those guys are free. While Saad would eventually get bumped out of the lineup. Not the best idea to have a 6 million dollar healthy scratch lol

As a Buffalo fan I'd do that trade even though SJ might win in the long run (Dyland Cozens I see as a 70-80 pt guy with some defensive chops) but that Dyland Cozens is probably 3-4 years away - Hertl is a high quality 2c which is a big need and his salary doesn't kill you - Sabres haven't made the playoffs in a long time (and I'm Old) so personally I'd be willing to give up a little of the future for a little better now.

Hard to run a rebuild if you won't move any players to obtain more. You're already getting a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman prospect plus a middle first... your ask of a top line prospect plus an early first is too high. At that price he won't be moved. Which is fine, it just means nothing changes in San Jose.

Mittel is not a top six forward and I have doubts he even ends up an NHL player long term. A bottom pair D prospect is not needed, and a pick that isn’t even going to produce an elite player doesn’t move the needle. It’s like when you trade for a great player, you need to give someone with great potential back or it makes no sense for SJ. The plan isn’t a long term rebuild it’s a quick retool.

For the sake of San Jose fans I hope it works but having 70% of your cap space occupied by 8 players, 6 of whom are 29 or over as of next season and they all aren't performing excellently, isn't exactly a recipe for success... something's gotta give.
