Being a sharks and flames fan, gotta say this sucks for SJ. We both know Jankow has been awful. Maybe if the pick was unconditional and a first.

Fair enough, I don't think that a first would be out of the question, maybe top ten protected or a condition along the lines of that.

That would be totally acceptable. The pick will probably be over 14 anyways, but also helping a divisional team always costs more.

Not a chance you get Petry for that... A first must come on MTLs way.... And a great prospect. Bennett worth almost nothing and those 3rd mean nothing

That's why there is an NHL ready D man that is cost controlled, RFA and taking large strides this season on the left side where MTL could use a little help. The Habs are not making noise this year because of injuries and Petry becomes a rental next year at the age of 33, I'd say you're overvaluing him.

Hey Smug - I like the San Jose trade and agree that is one player I would give up our 1st for.

However contrary to every Habs fans who thinks all of their players should fetch 1st round picks and high end prospects, that Petry deal is not good. Kylington is taking huge steps this season and looks better nearly every game. Sending him and Bennett and 2 3rds for 1.5 years of a 33 year old Petry is uggh IMHO.

I guess my thought is where does Kylington fit until Giordano is gone? I know that's optimistic in thinking Valimaki will step in and continue where he left off last year development wise but I would much rather sure up that right side on a shorter contract than having to sign Hamonic or Brodie again for 4-5 years likely. Petry would solidify our special teams and would be solid on the right side allowing Yelesin to develop into a proper bottom pairing guy.

    Hanifin - Andersson
    Giordano - Petry
    Valimaki - Yelesin

That was my thinking for next year.

I agree we have too much LHD and don't have a problem if we move Kylington - I just hate giving up young promising NHL ready talent for players over 30. I would much rather have him involved in your first trade if we could keep the 2nd from becoming a first.
