I will gladly trade Loui Eriksson and Mike DiPietro to Ottawa. We need the cap space. Glad to see someone who thinks on the same level as I do.

Somehow all your RHD are below replacement level and you're paying 12 mil for them

Well, we are paying less for Rafferty vs Stetcher, but I feel for a third pairing D man it might not be as huge a drop off as one might think longer term. I think Troy is playing at his peak, and i wouldn't want to pay him te $4-5 million he's going to be looking for (as we'll need space for Hughes down the road). Rafferty deserves a shot on the third pair.

Ristolainen is an upgrade vs an aging Tanev, and I'd be glad to pay $1 mill more for opportunity for upside vs Tanev (who has shown to be injury prone, and would proably look for a raise on his $4.45 mill anyway)

Detroit is looking to get younger, Why would they've any interest in a 30 year old Tanev? The guy has health issues no thank you.

You're right about the health issues and getting younger, but Tanev is younger than Green (4 years), Ericsson (5 years) and Daley (6 years), and is a great PK'er. He won't cost a fortune to sign, is low drama, and his favourite team growing up was the Red Wings (met him once and found out).

Just messing around with ideas of course, but if Green, Ericsson and Daley aren't coming back next year, he could replace any one of them and still give your team plenty of spots to fill with young D-men (not too mention there's tons of cap space still left over).

I agree that pick is more valuable than Tanev.
