Wings traded Tatar because he did not want to be here, zero chance we want him back. There could be deal but it would cost Montreal more than they might want to give UP.

Detroit doesn't want Tatar back, Maybe Romanov+Caufield+Montreals 2020 1st round pick #2 overall and we might think about it.

No you need to get your brain checked bud. Caufield alone is better than Detroit's 1st round pick.

I agree that Tatar would not be a fit to go back to Stevie-Y's Wings.

As much as I like the idea of having Lafrenniere in Montreal, I think that proposal would actually set the Habs back. How would you feel about Petry, Caulfield and the Habs 2021 first? Add a #2 if the Habs 2021 pick isn't a lottery pick.

I think the Habs would probably be very happy with Quinton Byfield. Actually, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Detroit opted for Byfield at #1. Big centremen who can skate like him don't come along that often.

Zero chance, there is a big gap between Lafrenniere and 3rd overall Byfield

I want what kind of drugs you're on. No matter what you don't pass on lafreniere.

I wouldn’t be too too surprised either. Yzerman values his centermen. He did select Seider last year which was considered a surprise. You never know.

If they get the #1OA or whoever gets that pick it has to be Lafreniere he has the chance to be special and at this point he has separated himself as the #1OA pick.

I posted this response yesterday to Detroit trading the #1OA pick to Montreal:

"A trade for the #1OA can't be made where both teams would accept. That's assuming Detroit even gets the #1OA in the first place."

Button had them 1A and 1B up until the WJHC. Lafreniere is also almost a year older. So when you're projecting that kind of NHLers these guys will be, it's hard not to look at Byfield and drool. The kid is already an NHL skater, "man strong" and in the OHL top 10 scorers. As I said, Habs would gladly have Lafreniere, but not for the price imagined here. Byfield will be an excellent player too.

That said, we all know that if Edmonton doesn't make the playoffs, Gary Bettman will send it there.

That's a reasonable assumption, though I see him being more a Vincent Lecavalier or Nathan MacKinnon than a Sidney Crosby. Certainly no slouches. Quinton Byfield at #2 could be a Staal or Spezza. I'd be happy with that.

If Detroit gets the #1OA I'm fine with a Lacavaliver or a MacKinnon type of player.

Agreed. And at 2OA, I'd be happy with Marleau/Spezza/Staal while keeping Caulfield and Romanov.
