Finding Horvat a Winger

Description
A few reasonable (I think) scenarios that could add a potential top6/top9 forward for the canucks.

A few of these involve moving Stecher which I expect to happen in order to allow Rafferty to move into his next challenge since the AHL clearly isn't too hard for him.

Let me know what you think of these deals, and throw in some counter offers.

P.S. I tried to avoid moving draft picks because the Canucks should not be in a position to move any more picks than they already have.

Sutter for Saad? You're missing a 1st round pick with that going to Chicago to even start the conversation. Sutter is about to turn 31 next month and carrying a $4.5M salary and been injured constantly. No thanks on that.

Wasn't sure what Saad was really worth at this point. Thought his 6M cap hit was a bit much. I also think a first rounder is a MASSIVE stretch but I do understand wanting more than what I offered.

Whats a fair middle ground?

A massive stretch? Saad is one of the better defensive power wingers driving possession in the league and is exactly what every team wants in a top 6 winger for the playoffs. Saad is worth a 1st all day long. Maybe he should be making $5M but at $5M he's worth every dollar and he's just turned 27 years old...playing at his peak right now and has been a top 3 forward for the Hawks easily including players like Kane, Toews, Kubalik, Strome, Debrincat.

Sutter on the other hand is nothing more then a cap dump at this point in his career; nobody is going to want him given his injuries and his cost of $4.5M.

That’s a no from Columbus. You want Anderson and aren’t offering anything we need. As we have plenty of D and our RWs are the strong side of the offense. This is a hard pass.

What about Athanasiou?
Don't know what the canucks are willing to give up but I'm sure the wings would listen on most guys. & I know he's not having a great year but he is on a awful team so change of scenery should do a world of good.

I'd imagine you could have any winger not named Olofsson, Skinner or Reinhart from Buffalo for Virtanen. Sheary is the first one that comes to mind. Was a solid winger with Pittsburgh but it hasn't worked in Buffalo. Vesey as well. Only problem is they are both UFAs.

I'd rather keep Virtanen over either of those options. Virtanen has definitely taken a step forward this year, and if not the right deal, i'd rather just hold onto him

Is the only issue Ferland's injury then? Like I'd be ecstatic if we had Horvat, Virtanen, Ferland in Buffalo

Ferland has concussion issues that look like theyre not going away. Definitely concerning
