NJD should jump at this offer. The chemistry between Wahlstrom and Hughes is to exciting to pass up and it has a potential to be an extra 1st round pick (in addition to the guaranteed one)

The inclusion of Andrew Ladd in this deal is necessary to balance the cap hit of Travis Zajac, requiring an additional benefit going to New Jersey. I don't think that you can argue that the total value for Zajac and Ladd to the Devils is more than either Wahlstrom or the first (let's consider them equals). So the Isles are paying the other first-round equivalent plus Koivula plus the conditional second for Palmieri. While I agree that Palmieri would be a great additional player to have, I agree with @joshelkin that this is an overpayment.

You're offsetting Ladd with Zajac who is crap now. If it was Palmieri and something else quality, then sure.

I think Zajac could really help em out. 46 points last season and really sound defensively.

But no way the Isles trade Wahlstrom at this point its way to early in his career

If they do it would be for someone much younger with term

Or a top 5 prospect and the Isles would add a pick or two
