its the fact that $3.2m or $3.4m is coming off the books that makes it good value. Kapanen's deal expires in 3 years. At that point Nylander and Marner will still be under contract and better then him. He's a third liner on this team. He is expendable, if thats what it takes to get a backup you can start with confidence then they should do it.

He's allowing over 3 goals a game, what confidence does he instill? He's just the latest it girl on this site. He's not worth a top 6 forward.

Its already clear that the Rangers won´t trade him for Bracco and a pick. Toronto would need to add on this. If Toronto don´t want to trade him for more, they should look for another backup solution...

its more about circumstance. u know the leafs aren't doing damage in playoffs with Freddy being unloaded on every night. gotta give to get even if value on paper seems a bit swayed

That's an overpayment for Georgiev,
Georgiev = B prospect and a late 3rd or early 4th. That's it

It isn't going to be a top 6 forward.

Then the Rangers have to lower their expectation. But they will wait until the Deadline before they are going to accept offers with smaller reaturns.

But there are 2 arguments that he has higher value right now:
- Some teams like SJ could looking to improve their goaltending now. There are teams who don´t want to wait until the Deadline
- He is a cost-controlled goalie. He is RFA this summer. Even if they would go to arbitration he would still be RFA after that year -> maybe a good option if they can´t pay Andersen in two years

but for a 20 goal scorer they are worth their contract. It is similar to the Eberle for Strome deal where they clear cap space but Eberle was worth the contract and clearly the better player.

I wouldn't hate it if they do it in the offseason and it is Mango for Geogirev and a 2nd. at least you clear space and getting futures

There are a lot of maybes here. And that is why I say he's not going to get a huge return. Talbot is a good example of why there is risk. He could become a starter, or he may just be a decent backup. One of those has very little value and the other has a good amount of value. What this player will be is completely up in the air.

With the NYR D most of shots are in the GSAA department, which would proly even rise with playing behind marvelous TML D but it would be still 5 Goals per Night.......8:5 wins doesnt happen every time the Game goes that route.....

Hes still 3,08 GAA Goalie and we have that one already, hears by the name of Hutchinson.....

The Rangers have by far the worst Defense in the league. You can´t argue with GAA or SV%, because with similar performance Georgiev would easily have a GAA of below 2.5 on the Ilanders.

Unfortunately there are only starters on this graph, but Lundqvist´s GAA and SV% are worse than Georgiev´s. Kepp that in mind when you look at Lundqvists position on this graph:
