Why would buffalo do this they are 7 points out of the second wild card and Eichel is having an MVP caliber year, so you have traded away your number 1 and one of you better defense man for a future number 2 center with upside when you still have Mittelstadt. Also I dont think Vegan wants to trade away another one of there top prospects.

Well aware he's a top tier prospect but if that means Hutton is our starter, no thanks.

excellent point. however, i think there is always goalie help to be had in the short term and someone who gets a fresh start near the deadline might inject some life into their situation and play well for 30 games. also, hammond or johansson can get some NHL time which clears up AHL time for UPL. again, this is a future-looking move aimed at a great top 9 given that jokiharju-risto-miller-laaksonen-borgen-nelson are RHD options going forward. to me, you start with eichel-cozens-glass and in 4 years they and dahlin will be in their primes and we will be a juggernaut. at least i succeeded in stirring the pot on a thursday.

So youd rather have an average goalie than solve the 2C problem long term.

probably not, but firing your coach tells everyone you are in win now mode. you can take advantage of teams in win now mode. that's why poile has filip forsberg and calle jarnkrok on his roster. they were traded once traded for martin erat and david legwand.

Glass = Mittelstadt. Prospect that has so far proved nothing.

Buffalo declines. I like Glass, but this deal makes our team worse, maybe Glass will become a great player in the future, but we know that Buffalo does not know how to develop such players.
