You have a thought time with value of your assets. Connor Carrick wouldn’t even be claim on waivers why a team would acquire him. Sami vatanen for cody eakin one on one would be enough. The 2 2nd round pick and nick holden are worth more than john hayden. New jersey is a bottom team and you trade spare part of a bad team and think that you’ll get high pick or prospect for it, this ain’t gonna happen

A 30-40 point 28 year old centerman for a 28 years old 30-35 point second pairing defenseman. Both are ufa at the end of their deal. Look damn close for value.

Sami vatanen isn’t a high prize defenseman. He might be your best one in New Jersey but in a team that doesnt succ he would be a second pairing at best. Open your eyes. Most of your players are playing in a role they should never be in.

Here's where you're wrong- teams at the deadline traditionally over pay for rentals. It's a tale as old as time. And no, A 35 point defenseman would not command a center who puts up 5 more points. I don't think any of the other trades listed are accurate, but to say Vatanen and Eakin (who has 7 points this season btw) are equal in trade value at this moment is ridiculous.

There nothing ridiculous there. Eakin has proven over the past that he is a consistent players and can be use in offensive role or defensive role pk and pp. this year Gallant was using him on the fourth line a lot more to give cody glass more ice time in a offensive role. Vatanen have been averagely mediocre in is time with new jersey. Even on a bad team a -16 isn’t a great stats.

Like it or not, but there is a larger market for Sami Vatanen than there is for Cody Eakin. The above trade looks to be close to what is expected if he is dealt.

Remove eakin and a second round pick for vatanen. John hayden doesnt have any affect on that dealt so let’s say vatanen alone. Try to find comparable from past deadline. Ian cole was traded for nick mertrey and a thrid round pick. Nick holden traded for rob suspect and a third round pick. Micheal kempny for a third round pick. Vatanen is likely to get something around those return. So a second round pick would be a nice return

I think the market will bear something like this for Vatanen:

(a) 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick
(b) late 1st round pick
(c) 2nd or 3rd round pick + b-prospect

For Eakin, I'd say:

(a) 3rd round pick + 5th round pick
(b) 4th round pick + b-prospect

You aren't getting a 3rd round pick for Carrick
