JBB could have been GM of the year

Connolly 6' 3 16 goals 13 assists free agent signing and we drafted him

JT Miller 6' 1 16 goals 28 assists, we had him....

Solves the problem of size and need for any additional top 9 forwards. If we only traded gourde for a pick....

Okay but you still got Vasi, Cirelli, and Sergachev to pay the next year. So you'd have to re-ship out at the very least JT Miller

Not to mention that you probably couldn't even get a 4th Gourde right now without attaching assets.

Trade would have been last summer. Habs love the French Canadians

Ironically, Bolts have more French & QMJHL players than Montreal.

The Habs wouldn’t even touch Gourde with a 50 feet stick. Thats was on of the worst Yzerman moves. He didn’t make a lot of them but that one will hunt them for a while.

Can someone explain the Gourde situation btw? He's still hovering around 0.5ppg while on the 4th line. Obviously still lower than expectation, but what's up with him?

I still like Gourde. Goal production down because he is on the fourth line and only 13 minutes on average. . He is a battler needs to be placed higher where others are generating shots for him to chip in. He fore checks well, battles in the corners. There are several issues, we are deep at forward, he is a small forward where we need more size come playoffs and his contract $5.16 million for six years. We have several coming off ELC and are tight for cap space. I would like him to go and get a fresh start at a middle line forward. He then would return to a 20 goal scorer.

Don't see Montreal being interested in Gourde. His contract is way to bad for Montreal to give up a quality pick for him.

Is nmc and ntc just make that contract to ugly to want him. And Montreal already have enough gourde in their line up. They don’t need another smurfs, they try to get bigger.

Gourde is a solid .5 ppg type player who, like Miller last year, is being deployed poorly by his head coach. His contract is a little high but when signed it was a fair offer. It is the one questionable move Brisebois has made, but if used correctly, Gourde could definitely be a 50 point player. I could see him waiving only because he has this potential, but it seems as though he won't have a chance to realize it here.

Much better player than is let on by some ppl only looking at his stats this year do. The problem is he was given the veteran NHL'er contract based on only a season and a month of NHL experience and that was way too risky IMO. They bet and "lost" that he would continue to be a 60 point player. I think the idea of him being the next St Louis was just too hard to pass by and they decided to extend him for way too much, way too long and with a trade clause too boot.

On one hand they had a 64 point, 26 year old rookie. On the other hand they had a player whose 5'9, undrafted and who overachieved playing on one of the league best teams this side of the millennium.

All this to say, if TB is trying to move him for pennies on the dollar and he is willing to waive his NTC, I think he would be a solid cheap pick up for any team looking for quality depth.
