Description
A guess on what the Caps will look like Post-Seattle draft.

The trades of Kempny/Jensen wouldn't happen the way I have them, but they're there to just illustrate the Caps will move them between now and 2021.

I was thinking of signing Ryan Dzingel, but looking at some advanced stats and his numbers are similar to Panik. They're only about a year age difference, but Panik's cap hit is probably going to be lower than what Dzingel will get in 2021. So keep Panik and hope he has more chemistry with McMichael.

Protas gets time at 4C, but if he struggles, Dowd is inserted back in and Protas can go back down to Hershey to develop more.

Lots of cap space in this situation to do extentions and re-signings when the time comes.

This looks about right but I could MAYBE see them exposing Oshie over Eller. Depends how Oshie is until the expansion.

Anyways, that's a great looking team.

Might be worth it to expose a local boy in TJ Oshie in the expansion draft. He’s from Washington State somewhere. Could provide local fans for the Seattle team.

I truly believe that GMBM learned from the last expansion draft, and will likely have an idea of what player/contract he'd want Seattle to take on in the expansion draft, and trade assets to make sure that happens. I do believe it comes down to what level of play or health Oshie is at that point.

Correct me if I'm wrong (not sure of the timing) but couldn't the Caps protect the Top 6 Plus Eller is 7 forwards, then Carlson, Orlov, Seigenthaler which is 3 defenseman and Samsonov (one goalie). They can keep both Eller and Oshie no?

I think as things look now, they could protect all of them. Not sure if someone else becomes eligible before next June, but seems unlikely.

However, GMBM might be willing to trade Eller to Seattle to have better control of what happens. If I'm Seattle, I'd probably prefer a 31 year old Eller that I could choose to extend if he works out there than a 34 (almost 35) year old Oshie who probably only has a year or two left in the tank, at that point.

    That's a good point.
