Description

My attempt at trying to legitimize a probably garbage Vatanen to NYI rumor. Rumor includes a return of prospect, and multiple picks.

The idea is that this trade eliminates the potential offensive upside/headache of Ho-Sang, and punishes the Isles if they want to keep Vatanen in the Metro long-term (which I don't think they will). If and when Vatanen leaves in the summer, it's 2 mid-round picks and Ho-Sang for the rental of probably the best rental defenceman available at the deadline (for sure top 3).

Ho-Sang is worth next to nothing in a trade. If anyone wanted him they would have claimed him off of waivers

I think players not being claimed off waivers at the beginning of the year is not so much their value being low, but their place being unknown on the NHL roster of the claiming team, making it useless to claim players just to waive them again and the original team re-claiming them.
